It can officially be announced that I’ve done the artwork (more like extensive photo editing / layout) for the soon to be released re-issue on vinyl of the very first Mephisto Walz tracks, originally released in 1986. This record album is a project that Barry Galvin (Bari-Bari) had reached out to me about a couple of years ago. It was completed at that time, but due to some issues with the original vinyl pressing plant, it had to be put on hold until now. The fold-out vinyl record packing is filled with original photos from back then.
These are the first tracks to be released under the name Mephisto Walz…after Barry and Johann Schumann had left Christian Death, moved to Germany and formed the band. At that time, the band consisted of Barry (guitar, synthesizer, voices), Johann (bass), Jörg Westermann / Creature (vocals) & Arndt Flakes (drums).
I first became aware of Mephisto Walz in 1993, when Cleopatra Records released the fantastic album “Terra Regina” (with the new band lineup featuring Christine Leonard on vocals and David Glass on drums). I’ve listened to that album (and the others) a LOT over the years since and have always been a big fan. Thanks very much to Barry for reaching out to me to work on this project (it's been a ride!).
