7 years of capturing footage… all to showcase in this one video.
For those of you who don’t know, outside of franchising, I am an active volunteer in the first responder community. I grew up in a family of firefighters and served with Southampton Fire Company after graduating from college.
In 2021, I was introduced to the Families Behind the Badge Children's Foundation through a mutual connection at Temple Police.
After our first phone call, I immediately knew I had found a higher purpose. One that extended beyond just my hometown.
Over the years, I’ve had the honor of capturing stories with this organization that humble me every single day. Listening to widows share what it’s like to lose a spouse who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Watching officers build real relationships with kids in their communities. Helping shine a light on the mental health struggles first responders face, and working to change the stigma around them.
I’ve cried tears of heartbreak and tears of joy through all of it. Including while building this video.
(And yes… also a few tears of hangriness on our annual 65-mile Ben to the Shore Bike Ride when I start shooting at 5AM and realize I should’ve packed a snack somewhere around rest stop 3 🤪)
This video is a culmination of everything I’ve captured over the last 7 years as a volunteer in this community. Looking back through my archives to build this video reminded me exactly what it’s all for.
My why.
While many of you know storytelling within the franchising world as my business, this is the work that grounds me.
I’m endlessly grateful to support an organization that helps make some of the hardest days in people’s lives a little bit easier through community, care, and support.
This video is my why.
