Seeing the sunrise on a calm summer morning, with beautiful clouds and colors in the sky, over Emerald Bay, with Fannette Island sitting quietly alone in the middle, and Eagle falls raging beside me, making its way down out of Desolation Wilderness - yes, these are some of my favorite things. This area became a National Natural Landmark in 1969 and a California State Park in 1994. Close to Tahoe City, Truckee and South Lake Tahoe, the beauty of Emerald Bay and the west shore of Lake Tahoe this draw for visitors and locals alike for sightseeing, hiking, biking, camping, boating and fishing.

Back-to-school season is not only for families with students. It changes the rhythm of entire communities.

Schedules tighten. Evenings get shorter. People start thinking about focus, routines, and the spaces where daily life happens.

That makes August a useful time to look at your walls with fresh attention. "Lifegiving" may be the kind of work that helps a room feel more intentional as the season shifts.

Granite Goddess

I love the Sierra Nevada mountains because of its unique geologic history. It is profound how the glaciers moved through and shaped the area. Yosemite National Park is an excellent place to experience nature. On this day hike I rambled in search of hidden lakes and waterfalls. The day was moody with dark clouds moving in and threatening a storm. And yet at this small lake the water was so still that the granite peak could be seen in the reflection. The granite goddess must have created this special moment just for me.

I'm seeing a lot of artists celebrating World Photography Day today and wanted to join in on the appreciation!

It's a celebration of the way artists preserve moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed. Every work of art begins with the same simple act: paying attention.

Artists notice the light, the atmosphere, the emotion, the relationships, and the everyday moments that many of us walk past without a second thought.

"Golden Canopy" is part of that tradition. Thanks for taking a moment to reflect with me today.
