Meet my newest friend…

Her name is Minerva. 💖

She loves the 80s.
She talks to her sheepdog, Fuzzy Melwick Jr.
She thinks laughter belongs in adulthood.
And she has absolutely no interest in pretending to fit in.

She’ll be popping in from time to time to remind us that joy isn’t childish… it’s powerful.

Minerva is becoming part of The Giraffe Circle, a community I’m building where women gather to serve, laugh, create friendships, and make a difference together.

This little character has become something really meaningful to me.

Sometimes it’s easier to say important things when you’re wearing colorful glasses, a tutu, and talking to a sheepdog. 😊

I’d love to know…

What made you smile in this video?

Thank you for cheering on this dream as it grows one small step at a time. ❤️

I don’t know if I’ve ever been so excited to share a video.

A few months ago, this existed only as an idea… a hope that maybe there were other women who wanted a little more laughter, a little more kindness, and a little more community in their lives.

This week, eight amazing women showed up for our very first Giraffe Circle.

Together we tied blankets for children, met new friends, laughed, sang, and took the very first step toward building something much bigger than ourselves.

Watching this video reminds me that every movement starts small.

One conversation.

One act of kindness.

One person saying, “I’ll come.”

Thank you to everyone who came, encouraged me, or simply believed this crazy little giraffe dream could become something real.

This is only Chapter One.

Here’s to raising our giraffe necks high enough to see the good in ourselves and in one another.

Welcome to The Messy Middle — Episode 1

We often look at someone else’s success and wonder why it seems so much easier for them than it feels for us.

Sometimes it isn’t about talent.

Sometimes it isn’t about effort.

Sometimes we’re trying to build a new life with beliefs that made sense in an earlier chapter of our lives.

For years, I struggled with charging for my work and believing there was value in what I created. It wasn’t because I didn’t care. It wasn’t because I wasn’t capable. It was because of what I learned growing up.

Healing has taught me that awareness can change patterns.

Slowly.

One small step at a time.

That’s why I’m starting a new series called The Messy Middle.

I’m inviting you behind the scenes as I build The Giraffe Circle, create Inner Bloom, and learn—sometimes gracefully and sometimes awkwardly—what it means to keep moving toward a dream.

It won’t be polished.

It won’t always go according to plan.

But it will be real.

If you’re in your own messy middle, I hope you’ll come along for the journey.

💛 What’s one dream you’re still working toward, even if it’s taking longer than you hoped?

Chapter 6: What is The Giraffe Circle?

Every meaningful journey becomes a little easier when you don’t have to walk it alone.

The Giraffe Circle was created around the idea that women flourish when they encourage one another, celebrate each other’s successes, share wisdom, and create genuine friendships.

This chapter is about the heart behind the community—why it exists and the kind of space I hope it becomes.

Thank you for being here and for being part of this journey. I can’t wait to see where it leads.

💗 I’d love to know… what qualities make you feel truly welcomed in a community?

For years people have asked me…

“Why giraffes?”

Today I’m finally sharing the story.

The giraffe became a symbol during a season when I desperately needed hope.

It reminded me to lift my eyes above what was right in front of me, to trust there was a bigger perspective, to keep reaching toward the light, and to keep leading with my heart.

I never imagined that one simple symbol would eventually inspire an entire community centered around joy, friendship, healing, service, and learning how to play again.

This video is one of the most personal chapters I’ve shared so far, and I hope you’ll watch it.

And if somewhere along the way you’ve been finding the little “lettuce leaves” I’ve been leaving online…

I just want you to know…

You belong here. 🦒💜

Sometimes our biggest dreams don't disappear.
They just wait until we're ready to understand them.
Years ago, I created a portrait session to reconnect with the little girl I used to be—the one who spent hours figure skating around our garage.
When I stepped onto the ice skates again, something happened that I never expected.
I felt connected to her.
I was excited because I thought maybe other women would want to experience that feeling too.
Instead...
Most people were confused.
So I tucked the idea away and moved on.
But here's what I've learned.
The ideas that keep coming back often aren't asking us to repeat the past.
They're asking us to grow into something bigger.
This portrait session never disappeared.
It simply transformed.
And the next chapter begins with a giraffe. 🦒💛
Thank you for following this journey with me. Every chapter brings me a little closer to understanding why I've been creating these experiences all along.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how life connects the dots.

When I was growing up, I had no idea the experiences I was having would one day influence the business and community I’m building today.

This video is the first chapter of that journey.

It isn’t just about photography—it’s about discovering purpose, celebrating women, and creating a place where people feel seen, encouraged, and inspired.

Thank you to everyone who’s been cheering me on. Your encouragement means more than you know.

💛 This is just the beginning of the story.

Tomorrow, I’ll share what happened next.

There was a time when I believed I already knew how my life would unfold.

I thought I knew my purpose.
I thought I knew my future.

Instead, life took me somewhere I never expected.

This is one of the hardest parts of my story to tell because it involves loss, heartbreak, and learning to choose my own path—even when it came with consequences.

For a long time, I wondered if my life had fallen apart.

Looking back now, I can see that it was the beginning of becoming the person I was meant to be.

If you’ve ever had life take a completely unexpected turn, I’d love to know… what did it eventually teach you?

Tomorrow I’ll share the next chapter:
The Unexpected Gift of Healing. ❤️
