My copy of “Our Kind of Women” arrived in the mail yesterday. Congratulations to bessie-akuba on a fantastic project and to all the women involved.

The coffee table book includes a foreword by Teri J Vaughn and portraits of over 100 women. There are also personal reflections from Bessie and 150+ prompts from the photo shoots that sparked intimate conversations about womanhood.

It was a special bonus seeing so many friends and peers included in the book!

Be sure to follow Our Kind of Women and get your copy and support!!!

Realizing next year (2027) I will have two documentary projects that will be 15 years old. “Underexposed: Indie Hip-Hop in Atlanta” and “Change in the Game” will both be 15. “Divided Time” will turn 12 this year and “The Possibility of Her” will turn 10 in 2028. (My VERY FIRST documentary, “The Art of Life,” which featured ChaRon Don will turn 20 in 2028)

While in the past I have been really and firmly opposed to the thought, I think I am going to release my old documentary projects on YouTube. (I still have some DVDs/Blu-Rays as well for my friends in Atlanta who like physical media.)

I’m coming to terms with the fact that I don’t have the energy OR (and especially) the financial resources to pursue distribution. I’ll be opening the archives and sharing my documentaries on my wfjrFILMS YouTube Channel —> https://www.youtube.com/WfjrFILMS

While I mostly use circular ND filters when needed, recently I was filming b-roll with for her episode of and I don’t have a filter large enough for my Zoom lens. Thankfully I had invested in a set of 4x5.65 ND filters by and they came in handy with my matte box. Unfortunately, later in the day, when I went to film b-roll for episode my camera took a dive and got well acquainted with the floor causing the v-mount to crash into the screen on the back of my camera. Things were going so well until then. Part of the journey I guess. Road to 100 episodes will continue!
