Christian Baculi

Christian Baculi I'm not a full time photographer. I'm usually volunteering my time and camera for Joy FM events, church or friends. I know God put a camera in my hands to serve.

I've fallen in love with photography in a way that's hard to explain.

STORY TIME 14 (April 2018)
Around this time i sent a feeler post on Facebook about doing photoshoots and the Summer family was so brave enough to let me take their photos. This was my first time ever doing family photos that wasn't my family. I remember having a great time they were the sweetest people and I remember being really worried about the baby. As you can see the photos turned out so well!

Although looking at this now i wish i edited these differently. These images are still one of my favs. And i'm so thankful for the Summer family for trusting me. Haha

STORY TIME 13 (March 2018)

I have really fallen behind on these, i've been on vacation and kinda forgot about it.

This was one I'm probably most proud of to this day. So proud that i ended up printing these as the first photobook as a gift. This is , i remember asking her if i could try out some new lights i got, she obviously agreed.

These were the first photos i really took time editing. There were many different edits for the same photo but the ones that did end up in the book were my fav picks.

STORY TIME 12 (Feb 2018)

This was the year i really took my camera everywhere! And kept almost all the photos from because for me the quality was getting good for me haha.

So and i were hanging out and i took my camera out and shot these. I remember a time she didn't like getting her picture taken. Honestly was one of the best nights! Then we watched some tv. I haven't seen her in a while, turning into proper adults can do that 💔

STORY TIME 11 (October 2017)

I missed a day, but back at it maybe do two today lol

TRM was a non-profit ministry that had multiple fund raisers. This was one of the really fun ones they called it the turkey bowl. Also the first time i tried taking photos of moving subjects. It was a really nice challenge, and i was pretty happy with the results.

This is the last folder i have for 2017 again not everything i shot that year because of the storage purge at some point. 😭 #2017

STORY TIME 10 (September 2017)

This is the first portrait shoot I still have saved in my archive. I did earlier ones but sometime ago i needed storage and purged the oldest ones.

I was invited to attend and started to meet some incredible people who love the Lord and have their hands open to serve others. These two were of the many incredible people I met from this church. and Nadia they are super cool people

Sadly i haven't been able to visit like i said i would, but the day is coming when i go. So if y'all see this lol i hope you're free haha.

This was still very early stage for me. I had gotten much better with my focus awareness and camera settings. I for sure needed more posing practice, even today i still struggle with posing. We managed to have alot of fun and laughs when we were out. We watched the sun set behind the ATL skyline it was truly a fun day.

STORY TIME 9 (DR PART ii)

So we were working so well the first few days in the DR that we started to be ahead of what was scheduled for normal groups. Around day 4 we had some people who weren't feeling well and had to stay at the compound we were staying. So the ones that were ok went to the site and a few stayed to look after the ones who were not feeling well.
This was the only time it had ever happened to a group, we didn't really know what it was till we got back home and got checked out. This was also around the time zika was something we were trying not to get. It could also have been exhaustion for working so hard and not knowing it because we were having fun at the same time.

Thankfully on the last day everyone was able to rally and enjoy the falls and go for a light hike, a swim, fresh air, and some shopping for souvenirs too.

In the last photo you can see people were joyful to be back home. And when the stories were being told we were all happy that we went, it was overall a positive trip.

STORY TIME 8 (June 2017) ONE OF MY FAVS
(Disclaimer: the 4th 5th and last photo is from way better than mine haha)

This might be a two parter. A few people at TRM asked if I would be interested in going on a service trip to the Dominican Republic. It would roughly be a week long, fundraising would be involved, and when we get there we'd be partially building something. I'm probably not going to explain it clearly enough.

is a ministry that serves communities in the DR, they would go in and create sources for clean water, schools, churches, homes. They would have groups of pretty much anyone who'd be willing to help in creating these resources. Each group would stay for about 5-7 days good portion of the day is building or spending time in the community, there are times dedicated for rest, while there they would make some good food. And a day for fun towards the end.

This trip was a real eye opener for me. It made me realize how much i missed the Philippines, and that it's really good to serve. During this time i was also at the early stages of developing my own faith. It was for sure a pivot point. And leading to many great things.

STORY TIME 7 (March 2017)

Filipinos don't really need an excuse for a party, but birthdays are always a big one! 18 is a big one for our culture. Somewhat similar to a sweet 16, or a quinceañera. There are many traditions one of which are the roses where a number of friends or family would dance with the celebrant and give her a rose, and another are the candles, where family or friends would offer advice or wisdom.

I've been to a couple and been a rose for a few of them. For parties music and dancing is inevitable. I got to play with a few flash i got for Christmas and when it got dark we tried light writing a little, it was still a new concept for me and didn't really do well with it. It was fun to try.

Then the next day they were super nice to take me to my first trip to downtown Nashville which was for sure not the last. I'm a little disappointed with the posing choices when we were in town. I would for sure make different choices if i had an opportunity to redo it.

Huge shoutout to the Paredes family who have been incredible family they are another of the amazing families we'll meet more of them later.

STORY TIME 6 (Sometime in 2017)

When I started saving TRM photos, I just put them all in one folder so the dates are kind of all mixed up, but these were one of the ways I got to practice with my camera. After a hangout, some people would go to cookout on Ponce and just sit there talk, eat food, 'twas a fun time. The atmosphere was very inclusive and it was great.

Then, on some occasions, people on staff would need to make some promo content for social media and I was lucky to get invited tag along. We walked around the city taking some pictures. It was super fun! Would love to do that again.

The last couple photos have some of the photographers that I got to learn from and I'm super thankful for each and everyone of them. .caldwell (aka #1) It's still missing one more that for some reason I don't have a photo of , he should show up when I get to his wedding more on that later.

TRM would do shoots like these throughout the year to do announcements for hangouts, new series, merch and events and i got to learn as much as i could. The amount of growth that organization gave me, i have nothing but gratitude for everyone that was part of it all.

STORY TIME 5 (January 2017)

Happy New Year! Lol!

Somewhere near the end of 2016 I was invited to a college ministry in Atlanta called The Real Movement (TRM), which disbanded around 2020-2021. This was the place where i met so many amazing people that have influenced me greatly and i'm so thankful for each and everyone!

TRM was a ministry for college students to meet and have a safe environment to have conversations that led to deeper understandings of other people's opinions on topics that would often be avoided because it's uncomfortable or taboo.

I was able to truly be me with no walls or guards keeping people at a distance. I loved the environment the people and many conversations that got deep.

TRM was one of the main places where i was also able to shoot regularly. Every week i was able to apply the techniques i learned from videos that week. While also learning new things from some photographers on staff (they deserve a post of their own)

If anyone from TRM sees this, how are y'all doin!?

• V A C A T I O N •

I recently took a huge trip to the UK and a quick stop through Paris, France last week and just had the best time! Getting to check off 2 countries that's been on my travel list for almost 10 years! Such a blessing to visit these iconic and historic places. Still in awe of the amazing things i saw. I believe that any first time i visit a place i don't take my camera out as much so I can take in the beauty and majesty of where i am. So thankful for a job that allows/encourages me to get out and see what's out in the world!

Next Trip : ROME! 🤞🏽🤞🏽👍🏽
