Our Story

Annabelle Levy Photography, originally Bahari Photography, is inspired by light, love and the sea. Bahari means sea in Swahili. I believe the sea represents our lives. Sometimes it's wild and crazy and all we can do is simply stay afloat and keep moving, while sometimes it's wild and crazy in the best kind of way and we just go with it, taking it in, experiencing the highs and the lows with all we have. During the calm times we must make the choice to decide a new direction or relax in the calm waters and reflect. No matter which tide you are in, it is a time to remember. Each tide teaches us different things about the world and ourselves. I aim to capture those genuine, beautiful moments that pass by us all too quickly. What inspires me most to be a photographer is that photography connects us to our past and future generations along with the past and future versions of yourself. It's a gift we can give our future great-great grandchildren and a gift I have cherished throughout my life from my great-great grandmother. I only wish I could look back at my ancestors centuries ago. I aim to capture the genuine moments, the laugh that makes you smile with a glance, the stoic glance as you reflect, the amazement and excitement as you find out the gender of your child, the real and everyday routine that you know you love, and finally, I aim to capture the joy in your eyes as you look into the love of your life’s eyes and the elegance of a bride making her final stride down the isle. I hope you will let me capture a moment in time for you and your loved ones.
