Katlyn Kretzschmar Photography Nothing lasts forever. I’m here to capture it to last forever. There is no denying that I followed the footsteps of my mother when it comes to Photography.

My Mother guided me though my young life with a camera in hand. Throughout the years I have learned so much about photography. Each year is a new lesson!

A little THANK YOU from behind the camera. 🤎📸
It has been a BUSY season over here, and I’m so incredibly grateful for it. Today alone I’ve been working through multiple galleries, with another session still being edited and another shoot coming up this week!

To everyone waiting on a gallery, waiting to hear back from me, or patiently waiting for your upcoming session — thank you. I truly appreciate your patience more than you know.

I take so much pride in what I do, and when I photograph your family, your senior, or your special moments, I want to give your images the time and attention they deserve. My goal is always to get them back to you as quickly as I can without sacrificing the quality of my work.🤍

Next week is a BIG one as I’ll be photographing Concert in the Corn, and my goal is to have every current gallery finished before then so I can head into festival week caught up and fully present behind my camera. 🌽📸

And lastly, a little shoutout to my husband for being patient through the late-night editing, crazy schedules, and all the running around that comes with letting me continue doing something I truly love. 🤎

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for continuing to trust me with your memories.📸

Garth + Faith | Highlander Cows

I have been DYING to finally share this one. 🥹🤎🐮
After Swan&Burl created Garth’s incredible custom Mallard duck rocker, I reached back out with another idea… a Highland cow for Faith. The only catch? She had never made one before.

And somehow, she took the idea in my head and turned it into something even more beautiful than I could have imagined. Every little detail is absolutely perfect. This isn’t just a toy—it’s something I know we’ll keep forever and hopefully someday Faith will be able to pass down to her own babies. 🤍
Of course, I couldn’t just photograph a Highland cow rocker anywhere. 😂 So we reached out to Esme Martinson and her husband, Josh, who so graciously opened up their beautiful farm to us and let Garth and Faith take photos with their miniature Highlands.

Esme went ABOVE AND BEYOND for us—from brushing cows and getting everyone photo-ready, to bringing out alfalfa, helping us throughout the entire shoot, and simply giving up part of her family time so we could create these photos. Esme & Josh, THANK YOU. You helped make something that was already incredibly special even more unforgettable.🤎

And finally, to Swan and Burl—you did it again. 🥹
If you have ever thought about having a custom rocker made, I cannot recommend reaching out to her enough. But I also want to give the same little reminder I did when we shared Garth’s: please be patient and kind when reaching out. This is not a big factory pumping these out. It is a husband-and-wife team creating these pieces by hand—from the woodworking and carving to the painting and all of those tiny details that make each one completely unique. These are truly little works of art, and beautiful things take time.🤍

Faith girl, I think it’s safe to say your Highland has officially been HARD LAUNCHED. 🐮🤎

Thank you, Swan and Burl, for creating another piece of our babies’ childhood that we will treasure forever.

I’ve been thinking about offering something a little different...and this one is pretty close to my heart. 🤍

Daycare Provider Sessions.
Because sometimes the person who takes care of your babies while you’re away becomes so much more than just their daycare provider.

They wipe tears. Tie shoes. Give hugs. Make lunches. Teach them. Love on them. Celebrate their little milestones. They know their favorite things, their funny little personalities, and probably a few stories Mom and Dad never even hear about. 😂

And the truth is, our kids spend so much of their childhood with these incredible people.

As a mom, there is truly no better feeling than dropping your children off with someone you completely trust. Someone you never have to worry about leaving them with because you know they are safe, cared for, and loved.

Before we even make it out of Lisa’s driveway, Garth will ask me, “Mama, when do I get to go back to Lisa’s?” 🤍

And every single time, it fills my mama heart.
Someday our babies won’t be babies anymore. They’ll be grown, looking back at the people and places that helped make their childhood what it was. And how special would it be for them to have photographs with the person who cared for them, taught them, loved them, and spent so many of those ordinary little days by their side?

So I’m thinking about offering these sessions as a way for daycare families to come together and gift their provider a photo session — photos of them with all of their daycare kiddos, individual families, siblings, and all those little relationships worth remembering.

A gift for the provider, yes… but also a piece of your child’s story that you get to keep forever.🤍

If this is something you’d love to do for your daycare provider, send me a message! I’d love to see if there’s enough interest to officially add these to what I offer.
Because the people who help raise our babies deserve to be in the pictures, too. 🤍

I shared this group photo with full permission from the parents. I always respect what each family is comfortable with. And no child’s photo is ever shared without that OK. If this sounds like something you'd love to do for your daycare provider, send me a message!

Thank you, Lisa for all that you do!

Willa | Senior

What an absolute honor to capture my cousin Willa's Senior portraits. When Willa was a baby I would bring my Kodak camera to her house and take so many pictures of her. Willa was the most adorable little baby!

The audacity of a woman opening a package without scissors when she has absolutely ZERO patience to see what’s inside.

If you remember Garth’s custom mallard duck rocker, it was made by the incredibly talented Swan&Burl — and now it’s Faith’s turn. 🥹

They created something special just for her, and I am OBSESSED. Butttt… you’re only getting the unboxing for now. 👀

I’m keeping the finished piece a secret until I can do the photoshoot I already have planned in my head. 📸

Consider this your teaser… because I have a feeling this one is going to be GOOD. 🥹✨

Today’s senior session brought me over to Madeline Island! 📸🤍

A huge thank you to Neil & Brooke for trusting me to capture Saylor’s senior portraits. What a beautiful young lady she has grown up to be — it was such a joy getting to spend the evening capturing this season of her life!

I snapped this little behind-the-scenes shot on my iPhone and couldn’t resist sharing. The views, the weather, the location… and most importantly, my model — absolutely perfect. ✨

Days like today remind me just how lucky I am to call this my job. 🥹

Hey you, it’s younger you…

Nine years ago, you stood in this very spot, dressed up for a little tea party with your cousins. You had no idea that one day you’d come back here as a senior, standing a little taller, a little wiser, and ready for your next adventure.

On my drive home after cousin Willa’s senior session, I couldn’t stop thinking about that little girl. I replayed those memories over and over, trying to figure out a way to bring the past and present together.

Looking at this photo… it hits me right in the feels all over again.

One little girl. One beautiful young woman. The same path. Nine years apart.

This is why I love photography. We think we’re just taking pictures, but without even realizing it, we’re preserving little pieces of history. Then one day, you look back and realize those little moments became some of the biggest ones.

Willa, thank you for letting me capture your story—from tea parties to senior portraits. It has truly been an honor. 🤍 I couldn't go to go to sleep until I created this. When my brain gets an idea, she don't rest until its complete.
