For many people this Christmas morning, this man is more important and is more welcomed than Santa Claus. So proud of my son, Zach , who is working in his Emergency Department in NY this Christmas Day saving lives and doing his best to give many families and individuals the Merry Christmas they thought had passed them by.

His brother, Jeremy , is also an emergency physician, working in VA and working hard to do the same thing there. I am equally proud of him, as well.

I keep thinking of all the lives that will be saved by them during their careers as emergency physicians. If, at the end of my life, I look back and find that the only worthwhile thing that I've accomplished was helping to bring these two young men into the world and doing anything I could to help them achieve their dreams in medicine, I would consider myself having lived a very successful life.
