TELEPHONE TUESDAY:
The goal of this post is to get interaction across the group and improve your telephone skills.

Here is the scenario: You are talking to a prospect who is interested in having a family portrait created on location. She values her family, especially since enduring the pandemic, and wants to display a nice wall portrait in her home. She has seen your work and you feel she is your ideal client.
When you ask to set up a consultation with her, she says, "I'm just shopping around right now. I'm going to call a couple more photographers, and maybe I'll call you back later."

What would be your response?

Here’s a go-to question to ask yourself when you’re hesitating to make a daring move: Would I rather risk failure now or regret later that I didn’t try?

Do you agree with this statement? Why or why not?

Should You Use a Tripod When Shooting Portraits? - dougmattice.com

One of the questions I get from photographers is, "Should I use a tripod when shooting portraits?"
This question causes many conversations with photographers. Each has their own opinion and justification. Here is my response.

A question many photographers ask is, should I use a tripod for portraits? I always use a tripod because it forces me to photograph more intentionally.

The goal of this post is to get interaction across the group and improve your telephone skills.
Here is the scenario: You are talking to a female prospect on the phone who is inquiring about a family portrait session. After talking to her for a few minutes she begins to have second thoughts about doing this. She says, "I have to be honest with you. The thought of being photographed scares me because I DON'T LIKE HOW I LOOK IN PHOTOGRAPHS. I may hold off until I lose some weight and feel better about myself."
So....what would your response be?

Lightroom Classic Tip: After you import your raw images from your memory card into LR, take an image you want to edit and open up the Develop Module. The Profile will probably be set to ADOBE COLOR. Click on the drop down arrow and set the profile to ADOBE LANDSCAPE or even ADOBE VIVID.
I think you will see an immediate improvement in the color and contrast. So I always start my editing from here.

Doug Mattice - Photographer, Educator, Business Coach

My name is Doug Mattice and I am a professional photographer, educator and business coach for photographers and creative entrepreneurs. I know your frustrations, as I have worked for over 30 years in my photography and coaching business learning the techniques, principles, and skills necessary to have a profitable business while still having time for my family and friends. I have seen recessions, 9-11 and now the Coronavirus, and unlike many businesses, I am still here and serving my clients.

I have reached the point in my life where I want to work with other photographers and creative entrepreneurs to up-level their business so they can really have a “thriving business and better life” doing what they love. Through consultive coaching, I can help you get clear on who you serve and renew your confidence as a business owner.
