I guess the news is calling this one a "Super Wolf Blood Moon Eclipse", whatever that means!

Anyway, I have a screaming infant I'm contending with at the moment (mine), so this is the best I could do on short notice, in the freezing cold, in my gym shorts.

Nevertheless, please enjoy this image of the Super Wolf Blood Moon Eclipse!

Macro photography allows you to see your subjects in a way that you'd often miss with the naked eye. On the other hand, spiders don't become any more appealing when you look at them very closely!

Yesterday I had the sad honor of helping a friend (and fellow photographer) memorialize the relationship between her and her horse.

Karen is preparing to say goodbye to Beau this week, who has lived to a ripe old age of 32. That's a really long life in horse years, but it never seems long enough for the people who are left behind when they leave.

Hopefully this portrait does a fair job of documenting just a little bit of the relationship that forms between a horse and rider over the course of more than a decade and a half together.

Sorry again for your loss, Karen.

As many of my followers already know, I photograph a lot of different subjects.

In many cases the activity I'm photographing is also very fun (riding horses full speed down a beach, flying a P-51 Mustang in an air show, etc.).

One notable exception to this idea is bull riding. I'm pretty sure it is more fun to photograph bull riding than it is to actually get on the bull. As one retired bull rider once told me, you're essentially strapping yourself to 2,000 pounds of dynamite in that sport!
