Today I was reminded that it does good to make your voice heard and channel your opinions on topics that are important to you in the right ways..

"U.S. Congressmen Jason Chaffetz said on Thursday (today) that he plans to withdraw a bill that would have sold off more than 3 million acres of federal land for private interests after it drew a barrage of negative comments from hunters and outdoor enthusiasts."

National parks have been recognized as "America's best idea" for years, and so I think it's ironic that the land that inspired President Theodore Roosevelt to establish a system of protected lands- the Badlands of the Dakotas, where he lived for some time, hunting bison and learning to live off the land- has responded to President Trump's gag order on social media and specifically climate change information by creating alternate media pages to spread information that we should unquestionably have access to. As an unofficial ambassador for the national parks and someone who has lived in, worked in, and visited many of our parks, I think there's never been a time to be more proud of the than now, in a time where freedom of speech is essentially being oppressed. Knowledge is power, and so it is always imperative to stay informed regarding things that impact our people and our planet not only now, but in the future. Follow for more. 📷

Our ideas and goals typically are founded in what we deem to be 'possible'; usually boxed in by what we have seen in the past, but excluding new things we may see and experience in the future.
Nature is like the mind in the way that what we think we can find in the world is solely based on sights we have already seen, or things we have already experienced; and so it is hard to imagine that a place could be as magical as McWay Falls, a waterfall cascading onto a beach cooled by the ocean, lined by palm trees in an enchanted cove...until you're there for the first time

Since I'm home for the holidays I wanted to share some of my favorite photos I took while traveling over the past year. Sometimes I like to look at pictures I've taken and see my progress as a photographer, which is more visible when I have photos from the same place over the course of two or three years. This is one of my favorites from this year although I didn't have to go far to find it, and hopefully next year I'll capture these fields in an even better way
