The feeling of being LOVED is the strongest and clearest memory from my breast cancer journey. The support I received every day from family, friends and Pinked Perspective truly carried me through the pain and fear, and forever changed my perspective in life. Today I am not only thrilled to celebrate another birthday, but so proud to be represented as an artist by Grand Image and honored by their very generous donation in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

After over 30 years as a photographer from darkroom to digital days, a battle with breast cancer and a pandemic which completely wiped out my industry, I’m here to say the struggle to make a living as an artist is real. Amy began her career as a photographer at a chain of newspapers in Boston, Massachusetts after graduating from the University of Vermont in 1989. In her time at the paper, Amy discovered the thrill of being a photojournalist.

Amy has been voted "One of Washington D.C.’s Best Wedding Photographers" by the Washingtonian Magazine for the past fourteen years, and has also included family, corporate and political portraiture and events into her repertoire.

This summer I was finally able to photograph this family again after 4 years of trying to coordinate our schedules. I hadn’t seen the boys since I photographed their bar mitzvahs. In 8 years we’ve experienced two breast cancer battles, two babies born and grown and two boys becoming men (it doesn’t actually happen on their Bar Mitzvah day) and going off to college. There is nothing beautiful, glamorous or romantic on the other side of the camera - Just a very hot mess of a middle aged woman who was recovering from her seventh surgery and not even supposed to be picking up a camera. BUT THIS IS EVERYTHING. Thank you to all of my loyal clients who make my work so meaningful by inviting me to document your LOVE and LIFE throughout the years. If you’ve done it right you know that professional photography is not expensive. It’s priceless.
