Michigan Runner Race Series (MRRS) Update

Next up in the 2026 Michigan Runner Race Series is Event #10 of 11, this Saturday, 10 October, Sandhill Crane All-Trail Half-Marathon.

The 9 events we have down so far for the year are Event #1 Super Bowl 5k – Lansing, Event #2 Corktown Races 5k, Event #3 Martian Invasion of Races 10k, Event #4 Amway River Bank Run 25k, Event #5 Dexter-Ann Arbor Half-Marathon (RRCA National Championship for that distance), Event #6 Volksläufe 10k, Event #7 Kayla O’Mara Memorial 5k, Event #8 Crim Festival of Races 10mi (run as a 5mi dual with the scheduled 5mi due to a 2hr weather delay), Event #9 LMCU Bridge Run 10mi (also the RRCA National Championship for that distance).

The only remaining event for the 2026 MRRS after Sandhill Crane All-Trail Half-Marathon is Sunday 8 November Roseville Big Bird Run 10k. So we will have a total of 11 events this year. Should there be any ties Big Bird will serve as the tie-breaker.

I am thinking in 2027 we will need 1 more event to fit a marathon into the mix.

Thanks to Larry Sak I have in hand standings through Event #9. I still need to fix the website, https://michiganrunnerraceseries.com. In the mean time the category leaders are:

Larry Sak continues the tradition of the last Michigan Runner of the Year (MROY) coming to rescue the MRRS that Nick Stanko established in 2018 when the series was in danger of going away. Not only was Larry the 2025 MROY, but he is leading the competition for 2026. He only needs 4 more titles to catch Lisa Veneziano’s 5 consecutive MROY titles. Lisa is hot on his heels this year.

The Dicken Run, which has been the October event for the past few years, will not be held in 2026.
