Just popping in to say hi, I know it’s been a minute! Even though I haven’t been as active on social lately, yes, I’m still doing shoots for those wondering. I still have a few spots left for the 2025 year!

Please keep sending pets + kids my way. 💕 I don’t think photographing them will ever get old— even if it takes an insane amount of bribery, candy, and tooting to get these smiles. 💯 worth it!

PS. Don’t you love how B’s hair matches Vinny’s fur? 😍👦🐕

To be honest, when I jokingly asked my mom if she wanted to be my test subjects for a new location I was scouting for future shoots ( ), I didn’t actually expect her to say yes.

I’ve kind of been the black sheep after I decided to leave my cushy corporate job in 2016 in pursuit of a full time career in pet photography. I guess after 9 years though, they’ve kind of given up on guilt tripping me.

Surprisingly, the shoot was both fun and awkward. Fun because I got to help pick out my mom’s outfit (my dad volunteered the perfect purple shirt), and awkward because directing your parents to pose in front of a camera is another thing. If you’re familiar with first generation Asians, we are not a touchy family AT ALL. So when I made them hold hands during the shoot and tried to recreate there wedding photo where they had to actually touch, the embarrassed giggles was apparent. LOL.

Not surprisingly, my dad got bored after a few minutes of picture taking; my mom was a good sport, despite being exasperated on why I kept making her run up and down the hills. Max, of course, being a photographer’s dog, was the perfect model. 😉

Despite having a limited window of cooperation from my human subjects, I’m pretty happy with how these images turned out, and I know will cherish these images of my parents and Max over the many years to come. 🙏💕

Although a little bit further out from Ann Arbor, I love the rolling hills and the little white barn in the distance and am excited to announce that I will be opening up mini and regular sessions for this location beginning July 14th— when the lavender flowers will be in peak bloom. Thanks again to everyone that came out to support this year's Doggy Portraits for a Cause with Humane Society of Huron Valley, and helping to make it a great success! We raised $630 to help animals in need.

While these events are always a lot of work (prep, 4 hours of continuous shooting during the event, and all the time spent after with post-processing/ordering and delivery of prints), it's an amazing feeling knowing that this money will go towards perhaps a lifesaving surgery, feeding a few more strays, or assisting those with lesser means. ❤️

PLUS, knowing that people now have a sweet, professional portrait of a pup to frame and cherish, that they may have never thought of getting, makes me happy. I can't tell you how many times I have heard people express regret about this after their dog has passed! 😔

Anyway, check out these adorable faces! Which one is your fave? :)

Just a few updates!

1) Old dogs are the best dogs. 💕 Even if they'd rather run around the park and sniff all the things than to look at the camera 😆 (e.g. feat. Miles here)

2) Thanks to everyone who came out to support the 11th Doggy Portraits Fundraiser for the Humane Society of Huron Valley this past weekend! I got to meet and photograph so many cute puppers (photos incoming!), and am thrilled to share that we raised $630 for animals in need— bringing our total to over $6000+ over the years we’ve been doing this!

3) Peony season is right around the corner (😱), and I’m excited to announce that I’ll be offering mini and regular sessions again. 🌸🌺🌸Registration will open tomorrow with limited spots available. Comment “peony” for more info!

4) Right after peony sessions will be lavender sessions in mid-to-late June/early July. Sign up for both and save $50 off your registration! 🤗 Could be fun if you have more than one dog to have each one do a separate flower theme, or if you just really love your dog and flowers, haha 🙃

5) I am also available for sessions at home if public locations aren’t a good fit! Send me a message to learn more---booking sessions now and beyond!

Xoxo,

Kat

Ever come across a book that literally lights you up from w/in?

For me, it’s the Herbal Dog by

I’ve been diving into energetics lately. It’s starting to make sense why some animals do well on certain foods & others don’t. Imagine a cold person eating ice cream, or a hot person eating spicy soup. They’re just going to get more cold or more hot! Now imagine w/ opposite foods!

More importantly, I’m learning how to balance the energetics, so we don’t reach a problem state w/ a pet— e.g. hot spots, allergies, etc, which are all indications of an underlying issue/imbalance w/in the body.

Recently, I noticed that Max developed a couple of sebaceous cysts & a small fatty lipoma. While the vet said it was nothing to worry about/just keep an eye on it, obviously, I worry.

Through this book, I realized that Max tends to run cool/damp (which I kind of suspected anyway based on morning eye gunk/stool quality), & that sebaceous cysts/lipomas are indicative of stagnation w/in the body.

It really shouldn’t come as a surprise, b/c after his FCE, we haven’t been as active as we used to be, & he’s the type of dog that likes to lounge around all day. The lymph system is the body’s way of removing toxins and waste from the body, & gets pumped through exercise. Minimal exercise = stagnation. I also realized that I’m probably adding too much water to his food when warming up.

Rita does an amazing job of breaking things down: energetics/how imbalances manifest/how to use herbs to help support the body so it can heal itself. As a result, I’ve incorporated a calendula tincture (to help move the lymph system), freshly ground milk thistle seed (to help liver break down waste & support function), nettles (fortify & strengthen the body as a whole), & looking into mullein root tincture to help support the spine.

We’re a few days in & noticeable changes = less phlegmy sounding reverse sneezes/dryer eyes in the morn. It’s still early— the biggest challenge is having patience for the herbs & body to do the work (vs. traditional meds that suppress symptoms), but the changes make me optimistic. Less stagnation = better body circulation/spinal flow + chiro = healing 🙏❤️
