I've published another photo diary called "2023 Through My Lens" on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/.../ref=monarch_sidesheet_image

Here is a brief introduction:

2023 Through My Lens by Shixing Wen is a yearlong visual journal that transforms photography into poetry. Through vivid images and reflective prose, Wen chronicles a journey across seasons and continents—from the misted parks of Seattle to the cherry blossoms of Japan and the glaciers of Alaska. Each photograph becomes a meditation on light, time, and the quiet dialogue between humanity and nature.

The collection reveals an artist deeply attentive to both grandeur and subtlety: birds in flight, dew on petals, and mountains mirrored in still lakes. Wen’s camera lingers on fleeting moments—sunrise over Mount Rainier, a meadowlark poised in song, the soft decay of autumn leaves—reminding readers that beauty often hides in the ordinary. The diary’s progression mirrors the rhythm of a year, tracing cycles of growth, stillness, and renewal.

More than a record of places, the work is a reflection on gratitude, impermanence, and interconnectedness. Wen’s lens captures both motion and silence, revealing that art and nature breathe together. 2023 Through My Lens is both personal and universal—a luminous invitation to pause, to look closely, and to rediscover wonder in the ever-changing world that surrounds us.

Ruby-crowned Kinglet (Yesler Swamp, Union Bay Natural Area, Seattle, Washington, USA; 10/24/2024)

The ruby-crowned kinglet (Corthylio calendula) has olive-green plumage with two white wing bars and a white eye-ring. Males have a red crown patch, which is usually concealed. The sexes are identical (apart from the crown), and juveniles are similar in plumage to adults. It is one of the smallest songbirds in North America.

Mount Shuksan at Picture Lake (Glacier, Washington, USA; 10/12/2024)

Mount Shuksan is a glaciated massif in the North Cascades National Park. The mountain's name Shuksan is derived from the Lummi word [šéqsən], said to mean "high peak". The highest point on the mountain is a three-sided peak known as Summit Pyramid.

The classic alpine vista of Mt. Shuksan mirrored in Picture Lake is one of the most photographed mountain scenes in North America.
