The Northern Lights were very active this past weekend. Sunday night I drove up to Hatcher Pass and waited about an hour before the lights really started to dance.

This a short series of photos taken within a minute of each other.

I recently spent two weeks on a remote Aleutian island helping with some fieldwork and spending time with these little blue morph arctic foxes.

This little guy made sure to let me know what he thought of me and my camera

Shared a quiet early morning with this little fellow.

They may look cute and cuddly but are covered in sharp quills that’ll ruin one’s day. Unlike their distant African cousins, North American porcupines have barbed quills making it much harder to remove once stuck.

Munching on his evening salad.

As many know black bears are omnivores, and in spring, greens like dandelions and horsetails are some of the first meals after their long hibernation.

When the forest is calling your name… but mom has that look on her face.

These are from a few weeks ago, of a mother black bear and her three first-year cubs. I wish her the best of luck with those trouble makers.

I still can’t believe this happened, I randomly decided to pull off the road to a little overlook above a river, hoping to see maybe a moose. Never would I have thought a lynx would walk up the hill right where I was sitting and decide to take a stroll down the little path!! One of the most unexpected moments I’ve had. Moments like this are why I always stop and look while driving through Alaska.

Caribou have been on my photography list since moving to Alaska. After a few hours of patiently driving and searching the tundra in Denali, I finally got to see some!

Did you know, Unlike a lot deer species both female and male caribou have antlers, the ones you see here are a group of females with a male following behind.
