Today, I had the incredible opportunity to photograph a Rufous Hummingbird! These birds are rare here - we only see one every year, and it's notoriously hard to capture on camera. 🐦✨
It's vibrant colors are beautiful, but It's swift movements make it a challenging but rewarding subject. I'm thrilled to get this image and share it with you. EOS R5, RF100-500, ISO 3200, 1/1000 sec, f/7.1, 500mm

Captured this black and white image of a cumulus cloud forming over the Wasatch mountains. While I always avoided these clouds when I flew airplanes, I can't resist their beauty when it comes to photography. Nature never ceases to amaze! EOS R5, RF100-500, ISO 100, 1/1250SEC, f/5.6, 238mm

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟

I’ve been working on a fine art landscape collection for my business and had the incredible opportunity to attend the West Coast School, a week-long photography school, where I studied light under Meyer. While there, I received a gift certificate for a free acrylic print from , a professional photo lab. I’m currently exploring various print products to decide the best way to present my art, and this was a perfect chance to try out acrylic prints.

Today, my acrylic print arrived, and WOW!! It is absolutely stunning! The image, titled "The Creator's Clay," has a special place in my heart. After entering it in the Professional Photographer's print competition, it was selected to represent Team USA in the World Photographic Competition 2024. Although I didn’t make it to the finals this year, being part of the team for the second time was an incredible honor and thrill.

This experience has convinced me that acrylic prints are a fantastic way to showcase fine art. Stay tuned for more updates on my fine art landscape collection!

Here is another image from the shoot Conrad and I did outside of Kingman, AZ (See my June 26th post) This one was a bit tricky. My 11 year old grandson is on the floor behind the cowboy on the right holding an accent light. EOS R5, RF 15-35, ISO 200, 1/100sec, f6.3, 32mm, Studio lighting

📸 I love the vibrant hues when the sunset paints the sky in shades of pink, orange, and purple, creating the perfect backdrop for breathtaking photos. I also look for the highlights often cast on the rocks at the top.The Wasatch Mountains at sunset are beautiful. Canon EOS R5, RF 100-500mm lens, ISO 400, 1/40 sec, f/7.1, 135mm, 4-image stitch

I just got back from an amazing trip to Kingman, Arizona! Had the pleasure of meeting up with my talented friend Conrad from Mikel Photography and Design. We braved the 101-degree heat to capture some incredible shots of cowboys from 4 PM until sunset.

The journey started in Henderson, Nevada where I met Mikel. One of my 11-year-old grandsons came along for the adventure. He was a huge help, moving lights and fetching equipment. So proud of him!
This image of a cowboy and his horse intrigued me. It's one of my favorites. EOS R5, RF135, ISO100, 1/1000sec, f/2.

Last Monday, I went to photograph Utah's wild horses with some of my grandsons. Along the way, we made a new friend who was also a photographer. We were thrilled to find a herd of wild horses. It was an unforgettable adventure, sharing the experience with the boys and capturing stunning photos of the majestic animals. EOS R5, RF100-500, ISO 400, 1/2000, f/7.1, 500mm ,

This panorama is just over 6 feet long out of the camera. I combined seven images to create this beautiful wall hanging. In order to post it on Facebook I had to shrink it down from over 22,000 pixels long to 1,600 pixels. These conditions are so much fun to photograph. Would you all hate me if I prayed for more snow? 😂 EOS R5, RF100-500, ISO100, 1,200/sec, f/4.5, 145mm, 7 image stitch mountains

I was up in Idaho most of the day on Saturday. I was planning to return late, but due to in-climate weather around Preston, I was back by 6:00pm and found this, among other images. Didn't even unpack the truck other than to grab the camera out of the back along with the tripod and go to work. With the weather turning warm and the clouds giving way to blue skies, I doubt there will many more opportunities to create these types of images until winter comes again. It is no wonder they call this peak the Matterhorn. EOS R5, RF100-500, ISO 100, 1/800sec, f5.6, 363mm 2 image stitch
