A MESSAGE FROM FARGO-MOORHEAD PRIDE TO OUR NORTH DAKOTA COMMUNITY 📢
Yesterday hit hard. The North Dakota House passed Resolution 3013, asking the Supreme Court to overturn the decision that gave so many in our community the right to marry the person they love.
We want to be honest about how this feels – it hurts. When you see marriages, families, and love being treated as something that should be "reconsidered," it's deeply personal. These aren't just political talking points – they're the lives of people we celebrate and support every day.
But here's what we're holding onto today:
First, breathe. All marriages remain valid. This resolution doesn't change the law – it's a statement, not a legal change.
Second, we're not alone in this. Most North Dakotans (69% according to recent polls) believe in marriage equality. This isn't North Dakota vs. LGBTQ+ folks – it's certain politicians vs. the majority of caring people in our state.
At Fargo-Moorhead Pride, we've seen firsthand how our community comes together. From our annual celebration to year-round support networks, we know the true heart of North Dakota.
If you're feeling the weight of this too, here's how we can support each other:
• Reach out to your state senators – they're considering this resolution next (resources in comments)
• Check in on your LGBTQ+ friends and family – connection matters on days like these
For 24 years, Fargo-Moorhead Pride has celebrated love and authenticity in our community. One vote won't change our commitment to creating a North Dakota where everyone belongs.
We'll see you at Pride this summer – more determined than ever to celebrate who we are.
