Lesser yellowlegs, a shorebird. It breeds in the boreal forest region of North America. Across the interior Alaska and northern Canada, a highly migratory bird. Winters across South and North America. I spent a couple hours hoping to photograph eagles, The creek was flooding, over running its banks, watched these guys for a while feeding in the flooded field, very entertaining. A few more images maybe on the way. Garfield County, Oklahoma. 04.05.2026

Belted Kingfisher - The Kingfisher always makes me laugh. They are so evasive, the second they see you trying to photograph them, they complain quite vocally, mocking you as they fly off! Got very lucky the other day. He must have been tried and hungry with all the water froze up the past week. I still didn't even try to get close him. Be sure to click on each image!

Read-headed Woodpeckers - something a little different today. Seems like I'm coming home empty handed, more times then not lately. I spent a little more time editing this image to match the vision that I had in my mind, as I was photographing these birds.

Bald eagles mate for life and often return to the same nesting site annually, with breeding usually beginning around 4-5 years of age. Funny this past year, I thought I was watching this pair, the female was making on kinds of calls and she was not happy. The male was acting odd as well. Apparently, she was calling for her mate. Then it happen fast, her mate came out of nowhere knocking the intruder off his perch, then chased him off returning in a short time to rest beside the female. Then all was good. What a behavior to witness!
