Welcome to a fairly typical week in my life that I made look hashtag aesthetic because the internet gods force me to.
If you’re new here, I’m Rachel. I love you already.
Photographing weddings and lifestyle sessions and brands and editorial content for 15 years and counting. Getting to work with other friends and/or my bestie sometimes (LGBTQ+ Oklahoma Wedding + Elopement Photographer) is the cherry on top.
It’s taken me all over the world getting to celebrate all kinds of stunning love stories and human beings. Truly one of the biggest honors of my life.
Photographing weddings is tiring, but is so fun and inspiring. I think it’s often looked down upon as an art form, but a good wedding photographer acts as: stylist, art director, photojournalist, street photographer, food photographer, editorial photographer, couple and portrait photographer, fashion photographer, family photographer, plus often the coordinator or family wrangler or water-getter on top of the ways we document the day. Good wedding photos ARE art. Plus they’re documents of joy, of the human experience. And, anyways, if you ever meet someone and they’re a wedding photographer, please assume that their skills go way beyond taking a picture of a dress hanging on a tree or telling people to look at the camera and smile. 🥲

(anxiously awaiting Thunder season to officially begin)
M-Th I have a lil part time gig where I work with friends and dogs and there’s a basketball goal and good music and on Wednesdays we get cookies. And when I’m not helping patients or the shop, I’m working on my photo work or poetry work or party work (or making canva posts that took longer than I want to tell you).
When I’m not at the shop, I am in my office doing art or editing photos or taking those photos on location. If I’m not doing those things, I could very well be doing things for Red Dirt Poetry or at their open mic nights, or could be eating good food with people I love. To be honest, I’ve worked hard to have a good work/life balance and try to honor that commitment by having a rich social life (and also rich time spent alone).
Once described myself as a disco ball floating in an electric blue swimming pool on a sunny day.
