Nyerere National Park - formerly the northern section of the Selous Game Reserve (Hifadhi ya Taifa ya Nyerere in Swahili) - is Tanzania’s largest national park and ranks among the largest wildlife sanctuaries in the world.
The Masai giraffe, also known as the Kilimanjaro giraffe, is native to East Africa and is the tallest land animal on Earth. It is the national animal of Tanzania and can often be seen gracefully browsing treetops in Nyerere National Park.
