I was honored to meet with the Ambassador of Somalia to Tanzania, His Excellency Ilyas Ali Hassan, and have a meaningful discussion on the best ways to elevate the creative arts sector and create more employment opportunities for our youth.

We explored regional collaboration, innovation, and investment in talent development to ensure the arts become a strong driver of economic growth and a bridge that strengthens the relationship between our nations. 🇹🇿🇸🇴

It was a great moment meeting and exchanging a few thoughts with Mohamed Nur Mohamed, the Personal Assistant to the Ambassador of Somalia in Tanzania. He is a seasoned media and communications professional with strong experience in regional journalism, particularly in political reporting, peacebuilding, and human-interest storytelling across the IGAD region.

Through our brief conversation, I gained valuable insights into regional media dynamics, strategic communication within diplomatic institutions, and the importance of fact-based, people-centered storytelling in shaping public understanding. The exchange also opened perspectives on professional growth in media leadership, cross-border collaboration, and the role of communication in strengthening regional relations.

He previously served with Arlaadi Media, rising from Reporter to Head of News, Director of Programs, and later Kenya Representative in 2024. Currently working within the media and communications portfolio at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Dar es Salaam, he brings strong expertise in institutional communication, public diplomacy, and regional engagement.
