Announcement:
Announcement of the winner will be made on Fri, May 11, 2012 via MI website, and Facebook. The photo contest winner will also be notified by email. Requirements:
The contestant needs to be a citizen of a Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Country (Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Viet Nam, Cambodia and Yunnan/Guangxi). The photograph must be taken within the GMS region, and must not be older than 2 years
Must submit on or before the entry deadline: May 1, 2012
Each contestants may submit up to 15 entries
Submission:
The entries in each Category will be judged separately, in accordance with the Judging Criteria, as defined below. All entries must be submitted to [email protected] and be received on or before May 1, 2012 by 11:59 P.M and include the following requirements:
The Email’s subject/title must be the Photo’s Category and Name of Contestant (e.g. rural development_somchai cameralover )
Digital files in JPG format are required
image file size up to 5 Mb. Photo must be labeled in following manner: title of work_artist full name.jpg
Must provide in the email: contestant’s name, nationality, mailing address, phone number, date photo was taken, and a brief description of the Photograph and how it connects to the theme and category
Photographer may enter his/her work in as many categories as he/she see fit. If a photographer would like to submit into multiple categories, he/she must attach a separate email of each category photo entered. However panel of judge or staff may switch your entry into a different category on your behalf. Judging Criteria
30% - theme relevance (description/meaning)
30% - category connection
30% - creativity and image quality
10% - web popularity (The total count of "likes" on the Facebook )
Rules:
The photograph, in its entirety, must be a single, original material taken by the contestant. By entering the contest, the contestant represents, acknowledges, and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the contestant, that the photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim, or interest in the photograph. Photographs must have been taken within two (2) years before the date of entry and may not previously have won an award in any other contest. Usage Rights:
All contestants understand that any image submitted to the competition may be used by Mekong Institute for promotional purposes in any of Mekong Institute publication, electronic media or printed material, including website, online galleries, publications, calendar, yearbook, catalogue, program book, trade show, exhibition visuals and marketing materials without further permission or remuneration. Proper attribution to the photographer will be given each time it is used by the Mekong Institute, and shall duly carry the photographer's name.
