🏍️ 7,000 km across China in 24 unique photos 📸

When we entered China with Falkor last August, we were welcomed at the Khorgos border by Liang Yi, who helped us get Falkor’s temporary Chinese license plate marked 中国.

Then she surprised us with a gift: a disposable film camera 📸

Only 24 photos to capture our journey across China. No burst mode. No editing. No second chances. Just 24 moments.

Over the next 7,000 km, from the steppes of Xinjiang to the tropical forests near the Laos border, we used those 24 shots carefully. A few yurts in the steppe, the Great Wall at Jiayuguan, Tibetan houses, red lanterns in Lijiang, tea plantations in Pu’er, winding roads with no names on the map.

Shooting on film brought back poetry in our takes. Choose the moment. Accept imperfection, spontaneity and surprise.

These photos are simple, but they mean a lot to us.

No drone. No problem 🚫🚁

On naviguait sur un immense bateau japonais au large des îles d’Okinawa, avec cette envie : avoir un plan large du bateau en pleine mer 🌊 Le genre de plan qu’on ferait normalement au drone 🛸

Sauf que… vent fort, mouvement constant, impossible de décoller sereinement. Trop dangereux. Trop de chances de le perdre dans l’eau 🪦 Et franchement, pas envie de transformer l’océan en cimetière à drone 💀

Et puis sur le bateau, on rencontre un gars équipé d’une perche de 3m… + une autre de 2m.
On assemble le tout, 5 mètres 😱
On fixe notre X5 au bout 👀

Résultat ?
Un plan où on voit le bateau en entier, entouré par le bleu profond, avec cette sensation de vue aérienne… alors qu’on était simplement debout sur le pont 👍

Pas de stress.
Pas de risque.
Pas de drone au fond de l’eau.

Juste un peu de créativité, une longue perche et l’envie de tester de partir au plan créatif 🥳

Would you sleep on the Great Wall 🇨🇳?

Le 21 juin 2025, on a dormi sur la Grande Muraille de Chine.
Des mois plus t**d, j’ai encore du mal à y croire 🫠

Le soir, sur notre tour de garde, on a simplement posé la X5 en mode nightlapse, branchée à une batterie externe, et on l’a laissée tourner toute la nuit 🌛

Au réveil, les étoiles dessinaient des cercles parfaits dans le ciel, autour d’un point presque immobile. Oui, c’est l’étoile polaire 🧭

Ce que l’on voit, ce sont des traînées d’étoiles causées par la rotation de la Terre 🤔

Dormir sur la Muraille était déjà irréel 😱
Voir la nuit tourner au-dessus de nous l’était encore plus 😍

Certaines expériences dépassent les rêves que l’on ose faire ✨

Et toi, c’est quoi un de tes rêves qui te paraît irréalisable ?

The hymn for all the adventure riders ✌️

Someone commented:
“What a miserable life. Motorbiking is meant to be fun, not scrabbling around up to your knees in s**t digging the bike out.”

He saw 15 seconds of mud in Kyrgyzstan.
We lived the whole day.

Yes, sometimes it’s exhausting.
Yes, sometimes you’re knee-deep in mud.
Yes, sometimes you question your life choices.

But then the engine starts again.
The mountains open up.
And suddenly… the world feels right.

So here’s our anthem for every rider who’s ever been stuck, dirty, tired and smiling anyway at bad choices:

Knees in the mud, heart in the sky
miserable? Maybe… but damn it feels right

Flags experts don’t know this flag. Do you?

A few days ago, we rode into a place that doesn’t really appear on most travel itineraries 👀

Technically and geographically we crossed into Myanmar 🇲🇲
But culturally, we stepped into Shan land !

To get there, we left Falkor (our motorbike) behind…
Bringing our Swiss-plated motorcycle into Myanmar without fully understanding the situation felt… risky. So we chose a scooter instead 🛵

Deep sand tracks.
Military checkpoints.
Handing over our IDs with no clear explanation.

And then suddenly, we found ourselves in the middle of the 79th Shan National Day 🎉

A flag we had never seen before.
A parade where soldiers carried rocket launchers.
Blank shots fired straight to the crowd 😱
And an energy that was both powerful and unsettling.

That night, we slept on the floor of a building that looked abandoned hours earlier.

No comfort.
No certainty.
Just trust.

Experiences like this remind us why we travel the way we do.
Slow. Curious. Open.

Not to chase danger.
But to better understand the complexity of the world and the people who call these places home 🫶

We feel incredibly grateful to have witnessed this moment in Shan history, even if just for a few days 🙏
