CES Suspends Community Sports Tournaments in Juba
Central Equatoria State's Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hon. Bush Buse has ordered the immediate temporary suspension of all community sports tournaments in Juba City, citing recent incidents of violence and concerns over public safety.
According to the order, the suspension follows recent violent, including an incident at Munuki Playground that resulted in injuries and alleged firearm-related intimidation incident at Buluk Playground.
The Ministry said such incidents threaten public safety, undermine the peaceful image of sports and have attracted adverse attention on social media.
The order requires community sports associations and teams to register with the Central Equatoria State Youth and Sports Registration Commission and obtain authorization before organizing tournaments.
Security agencies, including the State National Security Directorate, State Police and Central Security Division, have been directed to enforce the order.
However, the suspension does not cover leagues and tournaments organized under the Juba Football Association, South Sudan Football Federation, legally recognized sports bodies, sports academies, school tournaments and registered clubs.
The Ministry said the measure will remain in place pending investigations and a comprehensive administrative review, with the stated aim of restoring safety, legality and integrity in sports activities across Juba and Central Equatoria State.
