🇬🇭 Ghana: First Sub-Saharan Country to Gain Independence
On March 6, 1957, Ghana, formerly the Gold Coast, became the first sub-Saharan African nation to gain independence from colonial rule. Led by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the movement fused Pan-Africanism, grassroots mobilization, and political strategy to break free from British control.

Kwame Nkrumah founded the Convention People’s Party (CPP) in 1949, demanding immediate self-rule.
