10 Deeper Problems Facing South Sudanese Musicians.
1️⃣ Lack of Unity – Artists rarely support each other. Instead of collaboration, there is too much competition and division.
2️⃣ No Strong Music Industry Structure – There are very few professional labels, management companies, or booking agencies to guide artists’ careers.
3️⃣ Weak Artist Management – Many artists work without experienced managers, which leads to poor branding, bad deals, and missed opportunities.
4️⃣ Low Investment in Music – Many people want quick fame but are not willing to invest in quality production, marketing, and long-term growth.
5️⃣ Poor Music Promotion – Good songs are released but never reach a wide audience because promotion strategies are weak.
6️⃣ Lack of Music Business Knowledge – Many talented musicians don’t understand contracts, publishing, royalties, or branding.
7️⃣ Short-Term Mindset – Some artists focus only on trending hits instead of building a lasting career and strong catalog.
8️⃣ Limited Platforms for Growth – Few festivals, award shows, media platforms, and industry events to showcase talent.
9️⃣ Jealousy & Industry Politics – Instead of pushing the culture forward, personal conflicts sometimes slow down progress.
🔟 Not Enough Global Vision – Many artists focus only on local fame instead of building music that can reach Africa and the world.
The truth: South Sudan has incredible talent. If we fix these issues with unity, professionalism, and vision, our music can reach the global stage.
