It's terrifying how fast time flies by. I haven't been back home for more than 2 years now. Hopefully, I can reunite with mine next year.

Talking about this year...

My 2019-self foresee it as a "pivotal moment" of my life - a year in which I graduate from university, get a full-time job, and pop off in the photography business.

As I'm writing this, it's not as bad as I thought 😂 - 2 out of 3 events did happen. But I don't "feel it".

I'm so far away from ticking off the last item on this list. To be honest, it's moving backward. It just reflects on how little effort I've been putting into this brand. Clearly, I need to get my s**t together if I want to be successful in the next few years.

This written post is for me, not you - I'm just reflecting on what I've done while I'm writing. You should try - it helps me put things into perspective. Hopefully, I'll write a better one in 2022 while smirking at this.

On the bright side 😂 I get to learn from amazing individuals. I would love to use those skill sets in the near future.

I'm one week away from starting a full-time career and looking back at the past years - I'm more than grateful for this "hobby"/side hustle.

I've never shared this here - most of the profits made are for my university & rental fee. Hopefully I can put my degree cert into good use now 🙃 By all means this is not meant to be a brag. And...

Ironically thanks to COVID, I made some great industry friends. They are people who I admire when I first started and I've never thought to be learning and shooting with them. Even though it's a s**tty time to be in, I actually gained connections & more knowledge in a way. Funny how life works.

Also, thanks  for letting me tag along with this shoot.

Maybe it's a surprise to some but - yes, I do shoot weddings... Regarding my style, I would say it's more of documenting the day rather than posing: probably 80:20. ⁣⁣

Be in the moment. It's your special day, soak it all it. Forget about the camera. Be you, express freely - smile, laugh, cry, or show off your weird dances (who cares). ⁣⁣

From my perspective, there's another factor that is even more important than looking good in your photos: when you look back at these photos in 5-10 years time, do you see "yourself" in it? Does it bring back memories of what happened that day and the emotions involved? ⁣
⁣⁣
That's the main goal I try to achieve for every shoot... ⁣
⁣
Remember that it's your story to tell! My "main-job” is to help you capture it down. ⁣
⁣

Their family and relatives can't make it physically due to the current situation - but they engaged with them as if they are there. They invited their close friends and hosted a zoom call with the rest. Most would just go on "live" and that's it. However, this couple went on the extra mile to engage with both online and offline guests with activities which I didn't expect. To top it off - a handwritten note for every guest. ⠀

Yes, the couple might have planned everything but their friends played a major part in it as well. Everyone was helping out in every they can and I can still remember their excitement when the couple was announced "man & wife" 😂⠀

⠀
The harsh truth is that this kind of wedding is rare (to me at least). I think most couples put too much thought and money on the number of guests, grand venues, and wedding gifts - forgetting to enjoy their big day because there is a schedule to follow and too many guests to impress. ⠀

It's supposed to be YOUR day - Do you want to remember it as a tiring day or the day you enjoy every moment with your loved ones?
