My Jeju LDP board setup. My deck is just 24” long, so the platform is a little shorter than my usual comfort zone. The concave is pretty aggressive so I went with running shoes over bare foots. Several run-offs caused by me stepping on the rear wheels, but I survived the trip nonetheless.
For the trucks, I went with the I-Gizmos -25° rear + 57° 6mm rake front truck setup. Lately I’ve been preferring negative rears & getting used to how they ride and pump at speed. But after tripping over my rear wheels, I might have done better with a tail configuration for this trip instead, just to have the wheels further back.
I’ve tuned the trucks to be more synchronised in rebound & compression between the front & rear trucks. If it was a tail configuration, I would have made the rear stiffer.
I picked the blue Otang Dad Bods 105mm wheels for this trip. It’s probably my wheel of choice in unexplored terrain. And it really did a lot for me on the rougher parts, no regrets for this!
As for camera setup, I went with the DJI Osmo 360 to make use of its temperature reliability during longer recordings, and 8k in 10-bit. I used a 3m pole with 1.3kg of counterweights to get the camera to the ideal distance away from me for the 3rd person perspective. Learning to skate and keep the camera in its ideal angle all the time is probably the hardest part of filming.
And although I’m a little late into the game for travel skating, I’m glad I started in Jeju! I guess when budget (and time) allows, I’ll try and make more skate trips happen!
