With this, I conclude the posting of "Dystopian Hustler". I hope you’ve enjoyed this photo essay as much as I enjoyed creating it.

This project wasn’t easy—emotionally more than physically. When I shared these images, some people assumed I had only just become a photographer. Few knew that I’ve been shooting since 1998. Photography has always been my passion.

Over time, however, I became drained by the bureaucracy and the constant need to manage people. The industry changed, and COVID was ultimately the final blow for me.
It wasn’t until 2025 that I decided to rekindle this part of my life—simply because I still love photography.

Finding the right collaborators wasn’t easy, and retouching over 30 images took several months. I also spent two full days scouting an abandoned industrial estate just to find the right setting.

Dystopian Hustler
But for some cravings, metal won’t do. People still want heat, sweat, the thrum of a living heartbeat. That’s where Rou comes in. He’s not just muscle. He’s a hustler. A dealer in what the machines can’t replicate. His trade is illegal—punishable by exile to the machine camps—but that only drives up demand. (part 2/4)

The year is 2045, eighty years after the birth of the nation once called Singapore. It is now named “Sin City”—a place where the law is an afterthought and the machines keep the streets in line for the highest bidder. The AI sex-robot industry has long since perfected mechanical seduction, selling predictable pleasure to anyone with credits. (part 1/4)

Seekers find him through whispers, codes, and a few trusted fixers. They pay in untraceable credits or rarer goods—contraband stimulants, stolen implants, black-market biomods. Rou never asks where it comes from. Because in Sin City, flesh is contraband. And Rou is the city’s most dangerous merchant. (part 4/4)

Dystopian Hustler
Rou works any hour the money’s right— day or night. In the day, he blends into the city’s churn, dealing out quick encounters in the hollowed spaces of industrial derelict buildings. At night, he haunts the ruined shells of the same concrete carcasses, his body sculpted into shapes meant to tempt, provoke, and promise. (part 3/4)
