🌊 Join us for a closeup with Pingas, the Gentle Dugong of Palawan!

Meet Pingas, one of Busuanga’s most famous dugongs! Capturing this majestic sea cow in his natural habitat was an unforgettable experience. 🏝️✨

Dugongs are critically endangered in the Philippines, with only around 30 left in northern Busuanga. These gentle giants graze on seagrass, keeping our marine ecosystems healthy. 🌱💙

📍 Location: Busuanga, Palawan

A ray of hope.

Like Icarus, we chase the sun—may we learn to soar, not fall.

Thank you Deep South of Maldives. Friendship forged, memories made but most importantly Lessons learned.

The lone shark POV.

In a world stripped of color, shark glides through shifting light and shadow, guided only by instinct. I can only imagine the ocean as it does—endless, silent, painted in shades of contrast only black and white.

My favourite photo of the trip. Had some deep thinking how I wanted to portray the sharks and this came to mind. Or maybe I just like the idea of pretending to be a shark.

Beneath the turquoise veil of Fuvahmulah’s waters, where the ocean whispers secrets to the bold, roams a legend draped in stripes—⁣the elusive Tiger Shark. A ghost in the deep, a shadow in the blue, moving with the silent grace of a storm yet to break. Eyes like liquid night, she sees all, fears none.⁣

Born of mystery, forged by the tides, she dances on the edge of danger and divinity. Those who meet her speak of a pulse that quickens, a soul that stirs—⁣for in her presence, the ocean feels more alive.

A queen without a crown, a warrior without a rival. Fuvahmulah’s guardian, untamed and eternal. 🦈✨

Two Dreams, One Ocean

Some dreams unfold in silence, in the waiting—adrift in cold waters, where time slows, and nature holds its breath. Then, in an instant, the ocean erupts. The great Sardine Run—a spectacle beyond imagination—shared with dolphins, whales, sharks, and gannets in a dance as old as time.

Another dream surfaced too—UPY. Less than two years into underwater photography, and I find myself placed among the best in the world. Humbled. Grateful. Privileged. This journey has been anything but easy, and I stand on the shoulders of those who have supported me.

A heartfelt thank you to the judges— , Peter Rowlands, and — for believing in my vision. And to everyone who has been part of this journey—this is only the beginning.

Heartfelt thank you to everyone.

It’s not always about always getting close to the subject, negative space works well for macro as well.

Contrary to popular belief, sea fan polyps don’t close every time they are touched. While a light bump may cause some polyps to retract briefly, they generally stay open unless there is significant disturbance. Typically, they fully open in response to currents rather than contact alone.

There’s beauty in every corner of the ocean. But not all life works in harmony. Some thrive by taking, feeding off the vibrant, unsuspecting hosts. In a world so full of wonder, it’s easy to overlook what’s lurking beneath the surface... Not everything that hides in the shadows means well.

Emperor shrimps are the ultimate hitchhikers of the sea! 🦐 They share a fascinating symbiotic relationship with nudibranchs, riding on their backs for protection while helping keep their hosts clean from parasites. Together, they form a perfect underwater partnership—showing us how nature thrives through collaboration. 🌊
