… we are sending people up into space but over 80 percent of the ocean is still waiting to be explored?😳

Besides the importance of the ocean for our survival on this planet I have always been truly fascinated with the fact that most of the ocean is unexplored🌊

It is Julia Donaldson’s children’s book “The snail and the whale” (which I highly recommend) as well as and initiative
# createwaves that inspired my image today.

Adobe and The Ocean Agency
are working with artists to inspire support for ocean conservation. We all need to get to know more about the ecosystem of the ocean, what it means for us and how to protect it.

Just like that little snail who was curious and courageous enough to go on an adventure and turned out to be the hero of the story.

✨Free Editing Collection✨

Did you know that members of this creative community have access to a constantly growing editing collection for free? They do 🙌

The reason is simple. When I started out with photography and editing I ransacked the internet for everything related to learning how to do it myself. I watched tutorials, pined inspiration images on Pinterest, followed experienced Photoshop artists and photographers and took every opportunity to learn. Now, I want to help others do the same thing.

A collection has to grow but there are already Photoshop templates, overlays, Lightroom presets and wallpapers and they are getting more and more.

On the blog today, I show you how you download, save and use my Lightroom presets in Lightroom Mobile plus how to use my wallpaper calendar as a screensaver on your phone.

There is beauty even in broken things.

We are going live 😅 Who will hold my hand?
The other day and I asked you to share your questions about photography, Photoshop and everything creative. Thank you for that 💜

Need Alert again 🤓 Let’s talk Photoshop 🥰

You did it. You subscribed to Photoshop, got everything installed, and are ready to create your first magical photo. You click on “New” and stumble over the question of which settings your new project shall have. I’ve been there so here is what I learned.

Dimension
If you post mainly on Instagram then you will need:
- Square 1080 x1080 pixels
- Portrait 1080 x 1350 pixels
- Landscape 1350 x 1080 pixels
- Story 1080 x 1920 pixels

In terms of what’s best suited on a platform as Instagram, I go for 1080 x 1350 pixels as it uses the maximum amount of space on your phone screen. Just keep in mind when composing your image that your Instagram feed is showing squares.

If you want to offer prints you need to go higher. How much depends on what and what size you want to print. Redbubble wants pictures in 5000x7100 pixels for a large poster, Society6 needs pictures in 4000x5000 pixels for a canvas print. So that depends.

Resolution
If you're simply creating to post on social media a resolution of 72 PPI (pixels per inch) is enough but if you plan to print your picture one day you will need a resolution of 300.

Color Mode
For Instagram and any other online platform, pictures should be in the sRGB color mode, 8 bit will do.

Who of you has Photoshop for desktop or is about to get it sooner or later? I heard GIMP is a great free alternative too but I have never tried it.

And to all of you Photoshop pros here: How do you avoid that Instagram is compressing your high quality images?

Trying something new here. Not my comfort zone 🙈

I have always been fascinated by outer space (and the deep blue sea but I spare that for another time) and when I found a tutorial how to create a planet completely from scratch I simply had to do it.
