The Lesser Yellowlegs (Tringa flavipes)
is an elegant shorebird commonly found along wetlands, mudflats, and sandy shores. It is easily recognized by its bright yellow legs, slender body, and straight, narrow bill. This species feeds mainly on insects, small crustaceans, and other invertebrates, often seen foraging methodically in shallow water. A true long-distance migrant, the Lesser Yellowlegs breeds in northern North America and travels thousands of kilometers to winter in Central and South America.
Despite its delicate appearance, it is a resilient and skilled flier, making it a remarkable example of endurance in the natural world.
