"I believe a good photograph – no matter what the subject – should touch the viewer's heart in one way or another, whether it be by evoking memories or playing on the strings of emotions. As much as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I believe that inner beauty – in people, animals, places or things – can be portrayed in a good photograph, and will always shine through the lens if the photograp
her is willing to look for it. My search for that inner beauty has brought me to remote places like the impenetrable forests of Bwindi, home of the majestic mountain gorillas, to the vast savannahs of northern Uganda where wildlife roams in perfect harmony with nature and to small villages in the countryside of Senegal where barefoot children curiously watch their own reflections in my lens. It has also led me to look for beauty in everyday moments – like the spider's fearless leap from the edge of a rose, the rippling laughter of a child or the look of pride and joy in a bridegroom's eyes.
