"Ali & Nino"

Created by Georgian artist Tamara Kvesitadze (and co-designed with Paata Sanaia), this mesmerizing kinetic sculpture features two 8-meter-tall steel figures. Every 10 minutes, they gracefully move toward each other, merge into one, and then part ways in a symbolic choreography of love and separation.
The work is inspired by the 1937 novel Ali and Nino, written under the pseudonym Kurban Said. The novel tells a poignant love story between Ali, an Azerbaijani Muslim, and Nino, a Christian Georgian woman, set amid the geopolitical turmoil in Baku from 1914 to 1920.
