This is the Veil Nebula, the remnant of a massive star that exploded roughly 10,000–20,000 years ago. The delicate red and blue filaments trace shockwaves as they move through surrounding interstellar gas, revealing the structure of a supernova’s expanding shell. Captured in narrowband, the contrasting colors highlight different ionized elements, oxygen glowing in blue and hydrogen in red, giving depth to one of the most intricate supernova remnants in our sky.

Around 9h of integration time, on 300s long exposures, guided and dithered, at -10ºC.

Andromeda

This one doesn't need introductions, our galactic neighbor, the Andromeda Galaxy is pretty cool, and it's getting closer by the second.

This image is the result of around 10 min of processing. Data used is from 2024, with around 5.5h of total integration time.

The Crescent and the Soap.

Somewhere in Cygnus lies a magical place full of beautiful things like the Crescent Nebula, at a distance of around 5000 light years, the nebulosity is formed by the fast stellar wind from WR 136 (a Wolf-Rayet star). The star itself is more than 4 million years old, and getting fed up with life, it is expected that it might go supernova within a few thousand years.

On the lower right of the image, we can see the Soap Nebula, aka PN G075.5+01.7, formed by the gases ejected from its central star.

A nebulosa da Cabeça da Bruxa (IC 2118), inserida na constelação de Orion, é uma nebulosa que reflete a luz circundante, o que lhe dá uma cor pálida. É Iluminada principalmente pela estrela Rigel. A nebulosa é um berço estrelar, local onde novas estrelas se formam.

O fundo vermelho representa hidrogénio ionizado, com poeira espacial à mistura.

Por si só, Rigel é das estrelas mais brilhantes do céu noturno, a estrela (canto inferior direito) é uma supergigante azul, estima-se que seja 61000x a 363000x mais brilhante que o nosso Sol, pelo que um protetor fps50 não seria suficiente se a estrela substituísse o nosso sol.
