**THE SYSTEM IS FAILING THE 95% BLIND. 🎙️🦇**
I am **95% blind** from Stargardt Disease. After **30 years of taxes**, the system has left me with **€333 a month**. In 2026, this isn't survival—it’s an insult. ⚖️
The **PSI in Portugal** was meant to provide **INDEPENDENCE**. But because my wife works, they’ve cut my support to crumbs. They are using formulas that don't account for 2026 inflation or the right to a dignified, independent life. 👊
I refuse to be a "dependent" in a system I paid into for three decades. I don’t need chemical pills for the stress; I have my two rescue dogs for my mental health and a lawyer for the fight.
I am human. I am a taxpayer. I am **ONE OF MANY.**

📜 THE €70 DEATH SENTENCE: MADEIRA MATH vs. REALITY 🎙️🛑
The Portuguese Government says my wife and I are "too wealthy" for disability support. Why? Because she earns €70 over the minimum wage.
In 2026 Madeira, that €70 doesn't even buy a week of groceries, let alone a life of dignity for a 95% blind author.
THE SANTA CRUZ SURVIVAL RECEIPT:
🏠 RENT (T2 Apartment): €1,200
🛒 GROCERIES: €550
💡 UTILITIES (Water/Elec/Gas): €150
🌐 FIBER INTERNET: €50 (Essential for my work)
📈 TOTAL TO EXIST: €1,950/month
OUR TOTAL INCOME: €1,050
THE MONTHLY HOLE: -€900
How does a man with incurable Stargardt’s Disease fill a €900 hole when the government takes away his only safety net?
They treat disability like a "mathematical error" on a spreadsheet. They forget that behind the numbers is a human being who needs to eat, a creator who needs to work, and a family that deserves to stay in their home.
Being 95% blind is expensive. It means no driving. It means specialized tech. It means a lifetime of extra needs. Cutting my support because of €70 isn't "policy"—it’s State-Sponsored Cruelty.
I have 10 DAYS before the cut hits. I am not a number. I am a ROAR. 🤜🤛

📜 CERTIFIED BLIND & CUT OFF: THE GLOBAL DISGRACE 🎙️⚠️
SYSTEM FAILURE. Imagine fighting for 2 YEARS to prove you are 95% BLIND, only for the government to give you a 10-DAY WARNING before cutting your lifeline. This is the reality of STARGARDT’S DISEASE in 2026. 📉
I have the official government certification—the AMIM. It confirms a 95% permanent disability. Stargardt’s is a DEGENERATIVE, INCURABLE condition. My vision is only decreasing. It is NOT getting better. 🛑
I am an INDIE AUTHOR, the host of BAT FM, and a human being. Today, the government squeezed the air out of my lungs. The excuse? "Household income." While the corrupt elites live in luxury, they think my wife earning €70 over minimum wage justifies starving a disabled man. 🛑
STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS. 🌍
Governments raise the minimum wage but FREEZE disability support. They find billions for bureaucracy but ZERO for the blind. This is a HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION. BAT FM is slowing down. I am fighting for my breath. I am fighting for my dignity. Stand with me. Share this. Don’t let them silence the blind. 🤜🤛

📜 DISABILITY DISGRACE: THEY ARE CUTTING MY LIFEBLOOD 🎙️🦇
SYSTEM FAILURE. Imagine being 95% BLIND with a certified medical document in your hand, only to be told the government is cutting your support. This is the reality of STARGARDT’S DISEASE in Portugal today. 📉
I am not just a file. I am a human being. I am the host of BAT FM, and today the government squeezed the air out of my lungs with a heartless 10-DAY WARNING.
The excuse? "Household income." My wife works her heart out for only €70 more than minimum wage. That’s the "wealth" they are using to justify cutting off a disabled man. This isn't just bureaucracy; it’s an INJUSTICE.
STARGARDT'S DISEASE isn't a choice—it's a degenerative fight I face every single morning. Why is the government balancing its budget on the backs of the disabled? Why cut our survival while government waste stays at an all-time high? 🛑
BAT FM is going on a slower schedule. I need to find my breath. I need to fight for my dignity. Your likes and shares aren't just numbers today—they are a vote against a broken system. Don't let them silence the blind.

Our hearts (and our home) are officially full again! 🐾🧡
We are so incredibly happy to announce that we’ve adopted this sweet soul, Freya. A huge thank you to for rescuing her and taking such good care of her until she found her way to us. With Lica, Patricia, Ian, and now Freya—we’re a complete family again! 🏠✨

Fireworks aren’t “fun.” They’re fear.
For pets shaking under tables.
For wildlife fleeing, injured, or killed.
For the air filled with fine dust that falls back onto our lungs, our streets, our planet.

Every New Year, hospitals fill with injuries, streets fill with trash, and animals pay the price for a few seconds of noise and light.

I’m blind. I barely see fireworks — but I feel them.
Explosions from nowhere. Crackers thrown near my feet. Panic without warning.
New Year’s Eve means locking myself inside, not celebrating life.

We can do better.
Quiet fireworks. Light shows. Drones.
Celebration without terror. Joy without harm.

If your fun traumatizes animals, pollutes the planet, and excludes people — it’s time to stop calling it tradition.

Christmas arrives quietly. 🎄
Not always in lights or noise,
but in warm voices, shared tables,
and dogs sleeping deeply after full, ordinary winter days.
It lives in pauses.
In slow evenings and gentle traditions.
In moments that ask nothing from us
except to be present — together.
Across countries, cultures, and time zones,
the Christmas season reminds us to slow down,
to listen more than we speak,
and to send kindness farther than we think it can travel.
From our home to yours, across oceans and time:
Merry Christmas, happy holidays, Feliz Natal, Frohe Weihnachten.

A Madeira rescue dog changed our life forever — and today, the shelter that saved her changed the world a little too.

This week, announced something extraordinary:
after years of fighting, fundraising, and refusing to give up, they finally reached the full amount to buy their tiny shelter forever.
A permanent home — the very place where we met Lica, small, frightened, and still brave enough to trust us with her heart.

Lica is the reason we believe in second chances.
Ajuda is the reason she survived long enough to receive one.

And in a world drowning in rent hikes, capitalism, and governments who forget the people who need the most care, a miracle happened:
the final missing amount came from a man named Carlos, who passed away and chose to leave part of his inheritance to Ajuda — a stranger whose last act on earth was pure kindness.
If that isn’t proof that hope still exists, nothing is.

This victory belongs to every person who donated, shared, volunteered, or held the line when things looked impossible.
A tiny shelter with space for only a few animals at a time…
saving over 1,400 lives in three years…
now protected, stable, and safe for good.

And honestly?
It gives us hope too — that one day we can find our own little place on Madeira, stop pouring everything into rent, build a safe home of our own, and maybe adopt two or three more furry souls who deserve the same chance Lica got.

Because when compassion wins, the whole island wins.
And when a small corner of the world becomes brighter, that light spreads further than we ever imagine.

Wherever you are, feel our love. Patricia & Ian — Madeira Untold. Estamos juntos, mesmo à distância.

Being a blind author with Stargardt’s disease changes everything — especially when you’re trying to write a book in a world built for sighted people.
I wrote The Bubbling Cauldron with less than 5% vision left, fighting blurry screens, uncooperative accessibility tools, and a budget that couldn’t stretch to editors or publishers. My wife helped shape the final draft, and Foxy — our Welsh Pembroke Corgi rescue — became my photo model and spark on the hard days.

This book isn’t perfect. But it’s mine.
And holding my author copies for the first time felt like proof that blindness doesn’t get to write my ending — I do.

The Bubbling Cauldron is out now on Amazon + Kindle.
Every order, every share, every read helps me build a future beyond disability and keep this dream alive.

What’s something you achieved that once felt impossible?

ALT TEXT: Image shows a small Welsh Pembroke Corgi rescue dog lying on a dark green blanket. The dog has tan and white fur, big dark eyes, and perked ears. Resting against her side is a paperback copy of “The Bubbling Cauldron” by Ian J. Peterson, showing a glowing red cauldron on the cover. Behind the dog is a colorful cushion with bright dog-themed words and shapes.
