The Colours of Morocco 🇲🇦

Honestly, the vibrant colours of this country are truly unmatched. From the souks filled with hand-woven rugs, trinkets and beautiful ceramics, to the dreamy earthen clay buildings, the lush mountains, and the vast dusty deserts.

Just, wow.

The beauty of the Sahara Desert was in the sheer 𝒗𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 of it. Sand dunes as far as the eye could see. It felt like another planet.

I contemplated for a while on adding a deep reflection or some big text over these photos, but it just felt kind of… wrong.

So instead, here’s a tiny Tessa amongst the dunes 🤍

Still can’t believe this place is real tbh 🤎 🇲🇦

As much as we loved Marrakesh, it can be quite an attack on the senses, so after a few days in the Medina we escaped to the Ourika Valley. 💧

Nestled amongst the Atlas Mountains and just over an hour from the city, it’s the perfect place to slow down and calm your nervous system.

We spent the afternoon at one of the many riverside cafes, listening to the river flowing, dipping our feet in the icy water which runs directly down from the mountains, and sipping on traditional mint tea (not pictured: me spilling said mint tea all over my white linen trousers ofc!)

If you’re planning a trip to Marrakesh, make sure you save this post and add the Ourika Valley to your list 📌

MARRAKECH : TOP TIP 📌 We’re honestly not morning people at all, but getting up at sunrise and exploring the Souks before the hustle & bustle starts really makes a huge difference (and is far less overwhelming — believe us!)

Place des Épices (aka the spice market) is brimming with vibrant spices and wares. Do be careful though, we got stung by showing interest in some Ras El Hanout — they started mixing & blending up the spices, trapped us into buying it and we definitely paid wayyyy too much (not from this stall btw!)

The spice square is also very close to the rug and textiles quarter, which is dangerous because they are so beautiful and you’ll want to buy them all!

Save this post for your next trip to Marrakech!
Ps. Exact this location is on the last slide ✨

Came for the coffee, stayed for the architecture ☕️🍊

Dar El Bacha is one of Marrakech’s most beautiful historic palaces, built in 1910 as the former residence of the Pasha of Marrakech. It’s also home to Bacha Coffee, a beautifully curated cafe experience set within the palace itself.

I mean, would you believe me if I told you this beautiful building was once a college?

A must visit if you’re in Marrakesh and dating back to the 14th century, Medersa Ben Youssef was one of the most important Islamic schools in North Africa, and walking through it now still feels surreal.

Every corner feels impossibly intricate. You can see a mix of traditional Moroccan design and Andalusian craftsmanship in every detail, especially in the intricate zelijj tiles and hand-carved walls.

Ps. The wind was a paid actor ✨

Marrakesh is an absolute photographer’s dream. From the ornate archways acting as natural frames, to the textures, the colours, the intricate carvings & tiles — everywhere you look, there’s something to capture. 🤎

If we’re being completely honest, we found our first few days in Marrakesh quite overwhelming. Even as seasoned travellers, it can feel like a real attack on the senses. We’re always torn between wanting to tick off our long list of must-sees/dos/eats, and wanting to ‘go with the flow’. But add the heat, the crowds, the madness of the souks into the mix, and it all felt a bit hectic.

But now looking back at these photos, we can really appreciate the beauty of it all. Would we go back again? Yes. Would we take it at a slower pace and not try to do quite as much? Also yes.

Granada is one of those cities that feels effortlessly beautiful. So here’s a series of photos in appreciation — no hook, no lessons, just pure admiration.

The last photo though, the Alhambra, the city, the Sierra Nevada glowing at sunset… just unbelievable 🤎
