Há pedras que encontramos no caminho e há mãos que nos ajudam a atravessá-lo.

Nem sempre percebemos, no momento, porque certas coisas acontecem. Mas há gestos que chegam como uma pequena luz, exatamente quando precisamos dela.

Depois cabe-nos continuar. Fazer a nossa parte. Trabalhar, lutar, agradecer e transformar aquilo que recebemos numa nova oportunidade para seguir mais longe.

Algumas pessoas passam pela nossa vida. Outras deixam um pedaço delas no nosso caminho.

E por isso, simplesmente… gratidão. 🤍

WHEN THE SUN BECAME A CRESCENT

For a few hours, the sky changed.

The Sun slowly disappeared behind the Moon, transforming from a perfect circle into a thin crescent of light.

I wanted to do more than photograph the eclipse.

I wanted to document its entire progression from the first contact to the deepest phase, and finally to the return of sunlight.

Every frame was captured from the same location, following the movement of the eclipse across the sky and allowing the changing shape, light and colour to tell the story.

The final image brings that journey together.

One Sun.
One Moon.
One extraordinary moment in time.

I am especially grateful to Kase Filters Deutschland for supporting this project with the KW Revolution Magnetic ND100000 17-Stop Solar Eclipse Filter. Without the right tool, a project like this simply would not be possible.

But this project was also the result of a complete field setup, built around equipment I trust to perform when the moment cannot be repeated.

This is what I love about photography.

The equipment matters.
The preparation matters.
But ultimately, it is about being there when the moment happens.

17 stops between my camera and the Sun. ☀️

This is the KW Revolution Magnetic ND100000 from Kase Filters.

A specialized 17 stop filter designed for extreme light conditions and solar photography.
Tomorrow, this piece of glass will have a very important job.

On August 12, the Moon will pass in front of the Sun, creating a deep partial solar eclipse over Castelo Branco, with around 97% of the Sun covered at maximum eclipse.

I will be there to photograph it.

But I don't want to simply capture the final image.

I want to document the entire experience.
The preparation.
The equipment.
The changing light.
The eclipse.

And everything that happens around it.
The real test begins tomorrow.

Something extraordinary is coming to the sky above Portugal. ☀️🌑

On August 12, 2026, I will be documenting one of the most remarkable astronomical events of the yea, the solar eclipse.

For this project, KaseFilters has supported me with two very specialized tools:

☀️ KW Revolution Magnetic ND100000, 17 Stops
🌌 KW Revolution Plus Magnetic Neutral Night Astro Filter

The first will be used to capture the Sun during the eclipse.

The second will come into play after sunset, as I move from the Sun to the night sky and explore astrophotography under the dark skies of Portugal.

I will be documenting not only the final images, but the entire process preparation, field work, photography and video.

The countdown has begun.

Memórias do Arquivo | 2019

Algumas fotografias nunca perdem a sua emoção.

Estas imagens foram captadas em 2019 e continuam a ser, para mim, uma das sessões de pré-mamã mais marcantes que tive o privilégio de realizar.

O que tornou este trabalho ainda mais especial foi o facto de este casal me ter escolhido, pela segunda vez, para registar um dos momentos mais importantes das suas vidas. Não existe maior reconhecimento para um fotógrafo do que voltar a merecer a confiança dos mesmos clientes.

Lembro-me desta sessão como se fosse ontem. A cumplicidade, o carinho, a boa disposição e a simplicidade com que viveram cada momento fizeram com que tudo fluísse naturalmente. Sem dúvida, um dos casais mais simpáticos que já tive o prazer de conhecer.

O meu sincero obrigado pela confiança que depositaram em mim e por me permitirem criar memórias que ficarão para sempre. São pessoas como vocês que dão verdadeiro significado ao meu trabalho.

Passaram alguns anos, mas estas fotografias continuam a lembrar-me porque gosto tanto de contar histórias através da minha objetiva.
