Zgłaszając swoje prace do konkursu LensCulture poprosiłam o zrecenzowanie moich fotografii.
"This is a really beautiful selection of portraits, and I can’t help but feel a real sense of authenticity and intimacy coming through in all of these. As portraits of your own children I can see your relationship to them manifest as deeply loving images. And you handle light and color very beautifully as well.

In going through these five pictures I think they are all well made. Number 5 is my favorite of the group. It has a theatrical quality to it. I like how the blurred couch in the background provides a kind of domestic context, and the way her hair is dancing over her face gives the picture a real sense of magic to it. It’s interesting to read your caption to learn the circumstances of the picture, and I think this provides a really depthful story and context.

Look Inside is a very different kind of image. It’s surrealistic and dreamlike, and there’s a clear symbolism in the act of looking at a figure who is covering their own eyes. With the boy draped in black, there’s almost a horror quality to the picture, a strange monster of sorts. But it has a really enduring quality as well.

And Good Morning Sunshine is another kind of picture as well. It has a more documentary feel. The context of the yard and the porch offers more of a sense of place than the others do. And for me this picture is more grounded in reality, while the others have a more dream-like quality to them.

Overall it think you make very beautiful work."
