At the Grand Canyon, it’s easy to keep looking into the distance.
This time, I was more interested in what grows right at the edge.
Twisted by wind, drought, and years spent in a place that offers little comfort. Some of the junipers here can be several hundred years old, with individual trees reaching around a thousand years. Looking at their trunks, it’s easy to believe that each one carries its own story of survival.
