Two days ago, my friend’s father got into an accident late at night on University Road.
People found him lying unconscious on the road, covered in blood.
He stayed there for almost an hour… and nobody helped.
Eventually, some people from NED University stopped and took him to the hospital. But by then, it was too late.
He was probably hit by a vehicle whose driver chose to run away instead of stopping to save a human life.
And maybe, if he had been taken to the hospital earlier, he would still be alive today.
Every single day, people die in road accidents in Karachi.
And most of us have become so used to it that we call it “destiny” instead of questioning why it keeps happening.
Broken roads.
Dangerous infrastructure.
No traffic discipline.
No accountability.
This city is forcing people to risk their lives just to get home.
Whenever you leave your house in Karachi, returning safely almost feels like luck.
Karachi is not dying.
It has already been abandoned.
