Sindh Institute of Advanced Endoscopy and Gastroenterology (SIAG), Civil Hospital, Karachi - 2/2
Honoured to have photographed the Sindh Institute of Advanced Endoscopy and Gastroenterology (SIAG) at Civil Hospital Karachi for Architect Arshad Shahid Abdullah (ASA), a 12,000 sq. ft. facility that has grown from a modest two-room unit into the province’s first dedicated endoscopy institute, led by Dr. Saad Khalid Niaz, Director SIAG, with a vision to make advanced healthcare accessible within the public sector.
The space occupies a 126-year-old heritage building restored by (ASA). Once in a severely deteriorated condition, with structural instability and failing arches, the building was carefully rehabilitated through structural retrofitting, retaining much of the original fabric while extending its lifespan and preserving its historical character.
Grateful to have been trusted by to document this project, where I combined architectural precision with a documentary approach to capture both the space and its purpose.
