Video on Malakand District

The short video-documentary on Malakand district is a compact item to introduce one of the serene spots in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The documentary begins with Chakdara city and Swat River flowing with clean water and they young guys could be seen busy cricketing near the banks of the rover.
The lush green fields and trees on both sides of the stream and small and high hills all around makes a beautiful scene and one has to yearn for living here.
The second segment is of Churchill’s Pickets in Chakdara. Lying on top of the hill, the picket reminds us the bygone era when the British ruled this part of the world.
Chakdara Pass is another segment to watch in the video-documentary. The speeding vehicles on the zigzag road creates a marvellous sight.
The camera then clicks on the Batkhela Bazar and then goes straight to the beautiful cake shaped monument and the Nimogram Stupa. The Nimogram Stupa is a complete complex dotted with a number of small square type foundation structure.
Malakand district lies in a strategically important position as it acts as a gateway to Bajaur, Lower Dir, Swat and Buner. It is surrounded by mountains that were overgrown with different kinds of trees. The Malakand Pass which connects Mardan to Swat and Dir is located near Dargai.
The Swat River flows through the district down towards Charsadda district where it falls into the Kabul River. Malakand District is bounded in the north by Lower Dir district, in the east by Swat district, in the south east and south west by Mardan and Charsadda districts respectively and in the west by Mohmand and Bajaur district.

There are rare scenic places and tourist resorts in Malakand like Jabban and Malakand hydro-electric project. Water passes through a three-mile-long tunnel, and has a natural fall of 350 feet. The main income-generating source in Malakand is the two power houses at Dargai and Malakand Khas.
Historic ruins, founded at different places in the agency, indicate that this area was part of Gandhara civilization and Buddhist people lived here. The last Buddhist ruler, Raja Gira, seems to have ruled over there about nine hundred years ago. Sultan Mahmood of Ghazni, a Muslim Turkic ruler, came there from Central Asia through Bajaur and defeated the Buddhist ruler, Raja Gira. Then came the British rulers to govern the area.
