Before the maps were fully drawn and empires clashed across the seas, one chieftain stood his ground. 🌊🗡️

On April 27, 1521, the shores of Mactan witnessed history. Datu Lapulapu and his fierce warriors successfully defended their homeland against foreign colonization, altering the course of the world and halting Ferdinand Magellan’s famed expedition.

Did you know Lapulapu's name was first recorded as "Çilapulapu" by Italian chronicler Antonio Pigafetta in 1521? (Now you know 😅)

The Reach

The world below is a hazy hum,
Of things undone and yet to come.
But here, where golden stems take flight,
The only task is reaching light.

They do not ask the wind for leave,
Nor mourn the seeds the seasons thieve.
With trembling grace and quiet nerve,
They follow every skyward curve.

So let the background blur away,
The heavy clouds, the shadowed grey.
For like the grass, you’re meant to rise—
With roots in earth, and heart in skies.
