Angela, an orphan raised by the last remaining devoted Minnakantorit in their community, has always dreamed of following her footsteps. But when a family tree assignment forces her to confront the truth about her unknown past, she begins to question where she truly belongs. As her grandmother’s illness quietly worsens and the community that once relied on her starts to turn against her, Angela secretly prepares herself to inherit the sacred chants her lola guards so fiercely. Determined to prove that love, not blood, defines family, Angela must find her voice—not only as a singer, but as the future of a fading tradition.

Finalist to the Know Your North Film Festival

This video showcases Tatay "Ifan" Juan Datul of Amulung, Cagayan, one of the last makers of the cinco-cinco, a rare Itawit lute. His craft preserves the cultural memory and identity of the Itawit people, highlighting the role of music and craftsmanship in keeping traditions alive. As the practice faces the risk of fading, the video emphasizes the importance of safeguarding intangible heritage, ensuring that future generations may continue to value and appreciate the history and artistry embodied in the cinco-cinco.
