In a solemn act of worship and jubilant thanksgiving, the parish church of Angeles, Pampanga has been officially declared and shall henceforth be known as the ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ข๐๐ฟ ๐๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ ๐ผ๐๐ ๐๐ผ๐น๐ ๐ฅ๐ผ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐. The declaration is a recognition of the deep and enduring significance of the church in Angelesโboth the edifice and the community of believers, in the preservation of the faith of the Capampangan faithful.
Presided by His Grace, Most Rev. Florentino G. Lavarias D.D., the celebration was attended by notable high ranking officials of the Roman Catholic Church in the Philippines and the clergy of the Archdiocese of San Fernando. People from all over Pampanga and nearby provinces united in one grand celebration of faith as a testament of the peopleโs thanksgiving for the great honor bestowed upon the church of Angeles.
The Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Charles John Brown presided over the blessing of the Basilica Insignia, and exhorted the people of Angeles to be a church โ๐ฆ๐๐ฏ ๐จ๐บ๐ฏ๐ฟ๐ฎ ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐๐ฟ๐ถโโa Christian community under the shadow of Peter, mirroring his mission and zeal for Christ.
Former Parish Priest of Angeles and now Bishop of Kalookan, Most Rev. Pablo Virgilio Songco Cardinal David, reflected on the history of the Angelesโ Minor Basilica and affirmed that the honor and beauty of the basilica is not only evident on the physical structure, but moreover on the lives of the Body of Christโthe Church Militant in Angeles.
The community also witnessed the solemn investiture of the first Basilica rector, the Very Rev. Msgr. Manuel Sta. Maria as Chaplain of His Holiness, an honor fitting for a pastor of a church tied to the keys of Peter.
The Minor Basilica and Parish of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary stands as the 30th Minor Basilica in the Philippines and the first in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Fernando.
