"ANTIPO sa BIERNES SANTO"
Antipo (self-flagellation) is one of the many rituals and religious practices in observance of the Holy Week. Like other rituals during Holy Week, it is done in atonement for sins or as a sacrifice.
A description of the antipo in the 1970s describes the penitent as;.."wearing nothing but only leaves that cover the forbidden parts of their bodies. On their heads they wear thorny branches with leaves. They are barefooted and they did not take or drink anything before the sacrificial work. They are only provided with a small piece of rope or string, 5 pcs of bamboo spools the size of the middle finger and tied together to form a cluster. It's 5 in order to represent the 5 mortal wounds Jesus received while nailed on the cross."

"The voice of the Lord strikes with flashes of lightning." - Psalm 29:7

I have always tried chasing this kind of light in my photography. for several times, I headed out to the beach whenever I notice flashes light up the sky, and patiently waited for the right strike. Finally, I am so glad I got this. I had some in the past but not as fiery as this one.

TIPS: for newbies - master the full manual mode of your cameras; a sturdy tripod is a must; a remote shutter release or wireless shutter will be of good help but not really necessary.
