Recreating Genshin Impact Dishes 5 out of 6: Sweet MadamešŸ—

Waited long to see this come to life? Yup, me too. You know, this highly requested dish has been sitting on my do list ever since you guys asked for it.

But now we’re finally here, make sure to feast your eyes on every detail. Also, please do me a favor and don’t make Paimon as an emergency food for your next trip to the Spiral Abyss. Instead, have this juicy slow roasted Sweet Madame for your team’s recovery food.

So...Anyone placing dibs on the drumstick?

Avocado on Toast (ā€˜savory’ dessert)

Sunny Side Egg - whipped cream and mango gel
Avocado - matcha cream cheese
Tobiko- Jasmine orange caviar
Toast - banana bread
Pepper - crushed chia seeds

(Ps. Making everything from scratch was just one part, assembling the final plating was another! But what’s growth without stepping out of comfort zones?🌻)

You’re sitting by the twilight window having one last look at the sky. A cup of tea in your hand to pair with this beautiful cake and a silent wish. You blow out the candle in one short breath as a smile light up your face. Now your ready for the most important part—a big slice to enjoy all for yourself. šŸ°

Recreating Genshin Impact Dishes 4 out of 6: Mora Meat 🄯🄩

We’re beating Monday gloom with this recovery dish from Liyue. Another food item that comes in handy to restore the HP of fallen characters.

A side note, I find that a lot of the Genshin Impact dishes are well referenced to real life food from different cultural places. This dish is similar to what is called a Chinese Hamburger (Rou Jia Mo). Be prepared—the meat slips out when you take the first bite.🤭 But don’t be fooled! This savory pastry disappears immediately, leaving the sweet traces of sauce on the corners of your mouth.

Recreating dishes from Genshin Impact 3 out of 6: Lighter than Air Pancakes šŸ„ž

I think it’s safe to say that we all can finally relate to this dish, yes?

A Special Guardian’s Dish that revives a character and restores HP too! Well, for us? It’s just good ol fluffy melt-in-your-mouth buttery goodness to satisfy our generally sweet appetite to start the day. (Or maybe even a midnight snack).

These pancakes were made from scratch to achieve that so called ā€˜lighter than air’ texture. I do hope Noelle would be proud of this version. But, will it ever come close to her pancakes? Well folks, that we will never know.

For someone who grew up eating this for breakfast, I could not thank my upbringing and culture enough for training and exposing my palate to the unique world of flavor pairing. šŸ«šŸ¤

This humble Filipino breakfast bowl is a representation of myself as professional cook who thinks beyond sense and goes out of the comfort zone to explore the ā€œwhat ifsā€ of tastes that are yet to be savored.

Recreating dishes from Genshin Impact 2nd out of 6: FISHERMAN’S TOASTšŸž

The ongoing Windblume Festival in Mondstat was just the right inspiration for this thick and toasty dish. (Paimon’s favorite too). As much as we wanted to shoot outdoors, the best option was to recreate this picnic set up—quaratine style. I made some fresh tomato onion sauce from scratch, then topped it on toasted slice bread I bought from Baker's Plaza (2-3 layers for thickness), garnished with basil leaves and sautéed red onions.

What do you think? Can this pass as photos you can taste?

Hope this gives a little bit of light. On a more serious note, let’s all do out part in staying safe and keeping healthy in the best manner possible.

Finally dropping the new series for this year: Recreating dishes from Genshin Impact.🤩If you haven’t tried the game, definitely give it a go. As you can see I was drawn to it not only by primogems, but also the recipes and dishes.

Sharing this project in collaboration with ! She gave the idea for the whole concept and things just came into place.

1st dish out of 6: JADE PARCELSšŸ²

Full disclosure there were no wild boars harmed in the making of this dish, but I wished I could have tried this with the Lotus Head and Jueyun Chilis. Surprisingly, the increase in critical rate bonus were felt by the taste testers.🤭

While some parts of the world maybe be enjoying the cozy autumn season, my part of the country, on the other hand is already experiencing the ā€˜typhoon’ season. We’re bracing for our second one to drop tomorrow, and forecast says its gonna be the most powerful super typhoon in 2020.. Yet. (Expecting another typhoon next, next week too).

But, before Typhoon Rolly comes ā€˜rolling’ in,(perfect pun right?šŸ˜‚) I’m sharing this shot with my own version of how ā€œautumnā€ might have been in a tropical country. While the guava tree has blessed us with such beautiful harvest, tomorrow it will be under the perils of the storm; enough to pluck out its leaves and destroy its branches...Unless, it survives again, making it more resilient than it was before. ā€˜The bud may have a bitter taste, but sweet will by thy flower.’(-cowper)🌱

Leaving this analogy to everyone that these storms in life too shall pass, hopefully leaving us stronger than we are today. But for now, let’s pray and brace ourselves for what’s to come.

Something different for the first day of October: do a plated lunch. As much as I enjoy unlocking photography as a new skill, my main passion is still cooking (and eating). So I thought I’d challenge myself to do this more often.

I had to brush up on my skills for this beautiful tuna my dad bought the other day. Preparation for 6 people from scratch (conceptualizing, filleting, mis en place, cooking) to plating took me at least 2 hours of labor. My folks on the other hand, only needed 10-15 mins to finish it all up.

Starting this week with this baked mushroom galettes. 🄧

I was satisfied with the result of the flavor and texture. Good for an afternoon snack if your looking for something savory. Although, I thought a little bit of acid was needed, so I had to squeeze in a little bit of lemon juice on top to add balance, and mellow down all the umami from the shiitake mushrooms.

Overall, I’ll have to say this will be under my ā€œwill make againā€ dish in the future.
